Hello!

So I was just looking at google maps, and it indicates to walk from Orchid Suites (where we're staying for our Universal leg of our trip) to Universal Studios Hollywood it'd take just over an hour.

To be honest, we'd prefer to spend our time and energy walking inside a theme park, rather than to and from it :P
Also we're probably more focused on getting there quicker anyway (to get there early for WWoHP :) )

Just wondering if anyone has stayed in the Hollywood area (or even the Orchid Suites themselves) and how they got to Universal Studios Hollywood?

We're probably going to have a hire car with us, but not sure if its worth dealing with the traffic & parking ourselves? Is driving & parking not as bad as I'm imaginging it being? Or would getting a taxi or uber be better?

(note: as a heads up, this is just transport for 2 adults only)

Just take the LA Metro Red Line Subway.

The nearest station is located underneath the Hollywood and Highland Center next door.(Entrance is off Hollywood Blvd main sidewalk).

Buy a single ride ticket, and go one stop north to Universal City. runs about every 15 minutes

When you get out of the station, cross the street (where the big Universal Studios electronic billboard is). At the bottom of the hill, there is a specail USH shuttle stop that will take you to CityWalk and near the main Theme Park Entrance.

Inexpensive and fairly easy.

Let me add some info that might help you...

Plenty of things to see and do in walking distance to the Orchid Suites.

There is the Disney owned El Capitan Theater and next door the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio, you can go online to see if any tickets are available (free).

The LA Metro allows you to go to many popular attractions.

Head to Downtown LA, and check out the Olivera Street area and eat at the famous Phillipe's

Also Starline Tours is in the Hollywood and Highland Center, which offers many tours...

You are 3 miles from Universal. It's a straight shot up Highland to the freeway and only a three exits. Even in heavy traffic it will not take more the 20 minutes. Heading to Universal in the morning it should take 10 minutes. Heading back to the hotel between 5PM and 7Pm about 15 to 20. You don't even need to take the freeway - you could take Highland to Cahuenga Blvd. both ways. Parking at Universal is easy - a little expensive but not more than most theme parks. The Red Line for 2 people will be less than parking...

You guys have been super helpful!!!!
Above and beyond what I expected!
