DMIL made a fabulous "onion butter" for our get-together yesterday. It's a cream cheese dip served with crackers. It was so tasty!
I've searched online and could only find Double Onion Dip on the Kraft and Nabisco websites that comes close to what she made.
Does anyone have a recipe for Onion Butter?
I had to call MIL and got her recipe. If you care to try it...
1/4 lb butter (1 stick)
8oz block cream cheese
3oz cream cheese w/chives (she could find the small block so she purchased the 8oz tub and measure out what she needed)
1 lg yellow onion, finely chopped
freeze dried chives, to taste
salt, to taste
Mix well. Serve with favorite crackers. She served with Ritz Chips Originals. I guess chilling for a few hours or overnight will help the flavor of the onion blend through the mixture.
