Ok, as many of you DIS ers know DCL's rates for 2016 are well Astronomical, that being said we have begun a new relationship with Celebrity Cruises.
We were able to do 3 Verrandah Rooms with Free Beverage Package (alchohol) in Alaska in July for almost $9,000 less than what we would have paid for oceanview on DCL.
Has anyone had experience with Celebrity? Hits, misses, warnings?
Excursions in Alaska?
Thanks :)

I hear Celebrity is great. A coworker has sailed on them and she thinks they are very high end....she says the whole ship looks like the adults only areas on DCL. I am planning on sailing Celebrity in Alaska in the next year or two.

My parents always cruise Celebrity, and they love it. Last year they did an Alaska cruise. They have told me they have rarely seen children on any of their cruises, and maybe none on the Panama Canal trip they took. I am trying to think of their favorite things, but I just can't really remember! I know they have great ice cream, with plentiful toppings, and my parents have enjoyed all of their food. My mom loves the glass-blowing demonstrations they do.

We sailed the Celebrity Reflection last summer for a 10 night Itally/Greece. The ship was new and clean and well laid out. The itinerary was terrific. The price was reasonable when compared to DCL. We had beautiful weather and smooth sailing. The up charge restaurants were plentiful and very good. The lawn club cabanas were terrific on sea days. The main dining room food was okay. Celebrity was lacking for us versus DCL in one category...service. We could sit at a nearly empty lounge forever and watch the staff interact with one another, but never approach us. I ordered a Cosmo in the martini bar and was told no one knew how to make one so I should stick to the menu. We did a ship's excursion in one port and several staff members went on the tour drunk. They were loud and obnoxious and took the tour guide's attention. We rented cabanas both sea days and no one seemed to know who was in charge of providing food and drink. The Captain would give his noon report and make "suggestive" comments (Ladies and gentlemen, I will be thrusting out of bed, I mean port, at 0500. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as me!) again, it was a fantastic trip...but with all the raves I read about Celebrity on here and CC, I thought I should share. When we've sailed RCCL in the med, we've boarded with lower expectations and never been disappointed. We may have drunk too much Celebrity Kool aid before the cruise, and therefore noticed the short comings more. BTW, we're a family of four, sailed in two verandah staterooms and all felt the same way.

Enjoy your cruise. That fantastic savings and itinerary will be amazing. :-)

I have a friend who cruises DCL and Celebrity every year. They love both.

We've been on three Celebrity cruises and have loved all of them. The crews were every bit as professional as Disney. Each Celebrity cruise has a brunch that includes everyone, no upcharge, and we enjoyed them more than Palo. Celebrity's food overall outshines DCL, for much better prices. And Celebrity sails to Australia and New Zealand.

Don't forget to use protection...

I mean seriously, you can get a bad sunburn if you don't apply sunscreen...

Enjoy the affair, I'm sure it will be fabulous!!!

Problem for DCL is gonna be when all the people having affairs realize that DCL is no longer worth the extra cost they're charging (since it keeps going up and up at an insane intervals year after year), decide to divorce them and leave them for good with the old "It's not you...it's me" line.

Believe it or not, Celebrity was the cheapest of all lines for Alaska for Balcony rooms, we were amazed and are really looking forward to our Alaska Itinerary!

I will be the naysayer here... And not about affair, about celebrity. I had worst cruise of my life on celebrity. I will never cruise them ever ever again.

Service was horrible everywhere

Lines out the wazoo for everything

Customs a nightmare and it was lack of organization and employees not knowing where to direct people

Tendering lines worst ever

Food so horrible I lost weight on a ten day cruise

And no I don't have kids

I absolutely live celebrity. My son is 22 months old but once he is over 3 we will be back on celebrity. They have very little for his age group to do. I'm shocked someone would say their food isn't as good. I think their food is good. I love no smoking onboard (except in a couple designated areas) even in the casino. I've always had great service. That was our go to line before my son was born and it was his first cruise. We are in our 30's (upper 30's now).

I think you will enjoy your affair.

Would you mind saying what ship and itinerary you were on?

Guess I won't be sailing Celebrity. Service is a real big deal to us. We don't want to be special. We just want everyone to be treated well. Add drunk crew members on a tour and an obnoxious captain--no thanks!

We really enjoyed the cruise we took on Celebrity. Our then 5 year old son really enjoyed it, as well, although now he will tell you DCL is his favorite line. He actually preferred Celebrity's kids' club because it was quieter and less chaotic. We all loved the glass blowing demonstration, and won a fish sculpture we saw blown. We thought that on the whole, Celebrity had better food than DCL (or RCCL), and our meals at Qsine (one of the Celebrity specialty restaurants) remain our favorite meals on the sea ever.

We thought the service on Celebrity was fine. We think the service on DCL is generally superior, although I've had bad service on DCL on occasion as well. (Seriously, I had a crying child holding on to my skirt, two hands full, and I asked a DCL cast member who was was by himself doing nothing to please pass me something, and he made some dismissive comment and refused to get up from his seat. It was my first morning on my first DCL cruise, and I'd heard so much about how great the service was, and I was shocked.) All cruise lines will have a few dud crew members, or people who are simply having a bad day.

We love DCL and would sail with them again (we have a Christmas cruise booked), but we've also enjoyed things about several other lines. We're currently trying to decide whom to sail with to Alaska ourselves!

Enjoy your fling! It may make you consider your previous favorite in a new light!

I am an experienced cruiser with many many cruises with Celebrity. We have always received excellent service and have always enjoyed the food. To be fair, I have always stayed concierge class and above. Our captains have always been very professional and we have always been treated well.
