Im a little nervous now though, I can't remember, but are there benfits that go along with professional internships? I seem to remember reading that there weren't any, but I can't imagine someone working for Disney full-time (basically like a real job, according to my contact) and not getting any sort of benefits! Does anyone know about this?

The only benefits you get with the professional internship are the same ones you were (or would have been) eligible for on the college program -- park entry, food and merchandise discounts, entrance to cast events, and access to the EAP. Disney's medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 401K benefits are not available to Professional Interns.

Additionally, if you stay on full time or transfer to a FT position after your PI, time on your professional internship will not count towards your 90 day probationary period before you are eligible for benefits, nor does it count towards time measured for service awards. (So if you were a CP in 2002, stayed on as a rep until 2005, did two PIs and went FT in June of 2006? You won't be technically eligible for that 1-year Steamboat Mickey pin until June of 2007.)

Rusty:

So you have actually got two calls from two different departments? Wow! That really increases your odds huh? I thought that, after the first interview, they picked one of your selections and sent you there. I didn't know that there would be multiple departments reviewing my information. Well that puts a little more excitement into the game. Now we all know that we could still receive calls and it might be another department. Thanks for all of your information. Good luck again!!!!!

Thank you! I guess it does add some more hope and excitement, lol! :)

SoonerKate, thank you for the information about benefits...that stinks!

I hope things work out, but im very nervous going into a situation that doesn't provide any sort of benefits(health, medical, etc.).

How do people survive on the pay and zero benefits like that? Im just looking for some insight and suggestions!

I would think that the professional internships are for those students who are done or nearly done with school; therefore, most likely out on their own! Maybe im wrong, but that's my situation!

Zada; only 9 more days until your interview, are you all prepared?

hey all ... im new here. i was searching for inforrmation about my professional internship and this board came up. i just found out that i got the professional internship i applied for - communication planning. i'm still waiting to find out what area (since there are 8 possibilities) i will be in.

im so excited and i just wanted to tell all of you to stay positive and that you don't have to be a CP to get a PI. i know i got my notification really early because technically, all of the areas have until dec. 15 to notify people.

anyway - you've got time, don't freak out yet. i'm so anxious now. im just waiting for the finalizing paperwork and yeah, i don't want to wait until january to go. i want to go now!!!

Congratulations to you!! Im excited for you!! Stick around and tell us all about everything :)

Well I guess I will never be fully prepared as far as my nerves are concerned. I am so nervous because I really want this. I wish we were getting benefits too, but I also know that good things come to those who wait. I plan on being with Disney for a long time once I am in. They offer great benefits to permanents. I have been reading a book on interviewing and have a meeting with a business specialist at my school tomorrow that is specifically there to help students with resumes, interviews, and anything else that has to do with getting a good job. I will be buying a new suit this weekend. I don't think there is much else I can do. Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat. Thanks for asking because I am always dying to talk to someone about this.

Well, I always want to talk about PI's as well, so feel free to talk on! Im trying to calm my nerves for tomorrow morning. Im honestly not worried about the interview, because I have been through many this semester, but im just worreid about the outcome. Like you said, I want this so bad. This probably sounds crazy, but I have worked very hard to get enough experience to even be considered and it just feels right. :) It'll work out! You'll do well! :thumbsup2

I'm new here, too. Just bumped into the site...I had my second interview today. I did not know, but can you get more than one second interview if more departments are interested?? Anyway..good luck to everybody. popcorn::

Hi~! Yes, I guess that would be possible, as I have my second second interview in a couple of hourse! What did you interview for?

Rusty: Thanks so much! I am so excited, but wish I knew what area I will be in. I'm really hoping it will be MK because I am most familiar with that park and all teh backstage areas.

What have you applied for and how many interviews have you had?

Rusty:
Good luck on your second second interview. I know you are experienced now but luck is always good. Can't wait to see how it went. Talk to ya'll tonight.

Woody:
Congratulation!!!!!! You are so lucky. I wish I knew already. I want to start packing. My interview is on November 10th at MGM. As far as you wanting Magic Kingdom, I thought I did too. Then I started thinking about how that is my favorite park to visit and take my kids. If I worked there everyday, I may not feel the same about it or want to visit as often. Then again, maybe I would love it more. Who knows. I don't care where I am as long as I am at Walt Disney World. I guess my least pick would be Animal Kingdom. I love to visit there but not as much as the others. Whatever. I just want to be somewhere by the end of this waiting game.

THank you!!!

Im not sure where my information actually went, but I know it was with the Travel department and events/conventions.

I have had the first interview (the general one), one for the international sales department, and now, one for the Disney Event Group!!

Rustyflwr3, good luck with your interview!! I applied for the PI in finance department and the call I got back was from them. So I guess I'm lucky, so far.. :rockband:

The interview went well. I was caught a little off-gaurd on some things, but oh well. Im just so nervous! :)

Aww!! How did they catch you off guard?

When I say caught off gaurd, I mean that they asked questions I didn't expect them to ask. I went into the interview thinking about the position I applied for under the Disney Event Group. Lets just say that it wasn't what I was expecting, it was a different job under the department. (I didn't even know they offered this as an internship). It wasn't like the questions were particularly tricky, it was just something I wasn't counting on. I was also very nervous (Usually, Im not, especially having already gone through two other great internship interviews). Im feeling the heat of graduation among other things. I need a job in Florida and I have been trying extremely hard to get within Disney. It is where I want to be and where I feel that I should be. The internship is not my only option, but I think it's an amazing opportunity!!! Sorry for rambling on, but to answer your question, they just asked questions I wasn't prepared for as much. I think I did fine with them, but I got tripped up a bit....uhhhhh! lol!
