So today my friend was visiting (haven't seen her in a while), and I told her about my upcoming trip to Florida. She asked if we were visiting family and I said no we are going to Disney.

She says....

"Haven't you already been to Disney?":scared1:

Well that was the first time that has happened to me

I didn't tell her that I was already planning when a good time for my trip after the upcoming one should be. Or how much I think Disney everyday. I don't think she would understand,

But I know you all would :cloud9: :grouphug:

You're not alone ... that's why we hang out here. :)

One of the standard answers to "You're going to Disney *AGAIN?!?!*"

is -- "well, don't you go: [then fill in the blank]" -- e.g. skiing every year, beach every year, gym every day, mountains every winter, casino every month, concert every etc. etc. etc." :confused3

you get the point.

Disney is our pasttime, our hobby, our passion. Do *they* listen to their favorite song only once? :)

Cheers. you're not alone.
Wadiwo :)

I know how you feel.

On of my ex-colleagues told my boss, on his exit interview, that he thought I was weird because of my Disney obsession.

My boss laughed (he actually gets the "Disney" thing). He told my ex-colleague that I wasn't weird - but that I was a little eccentric and very passionate about my love for Disney.

I'm not entirely sure that I don't like being called "weird" though ;)

Same here! I'm laughed at because as I was planning my all too short trip I just got back from, I'm planning our spring trip and my fall birthday trip at the same time! At least we get us!! Lol!

Same here, Im on my count down at work. I hold morning meetings and part of my meetings now, is how many days till Im on vacation. Now that Im down to less than 30 days, I add a bit of Disney trivia. Most dont get it. A couple do that have small kids and have been lately.
However, the moment any of them want to go, they seem to come to me for advice. Hmmm.

I have a mickey tattoo on my ankle. When I got it I was what felt like forever being teased by my friends that it was them brainwashing me.
Good times.

That's why we all hang out here

I just told a friend that I would not be joining her on an adults only trip to Orlando in July because she told me I was "not allowed" to go to Disney...pretty sure I'm grown and will make my own decisions :lmao: Instead I am booking for the kids free promotion in August, it will be much more fun! Fortunately my kids are as Disney obsessed as I am...I'm a great Momma :worship:

I consider Disney more than a vacation destination. Disney to me is a hobby and something I am a fan of. I don't feel the need to justify my trips to anyone anymore, but sometimes I will say to someone that my Disney Geekdom isn't that different from someone who is a fan of Nascar or even knitting. It's something I'm passionate about, like most people I know are about their hobbies or interests.

I get this all the time.

I went on a long weekend trip with a friend and her son. I brought my youngest. The friend complained the whole time. Major mistake...I understand Disney isn't for everyone, but she was so vocal in her distaste it was embarrassing at times.

I'm taking my older girls next week and she can't stop posting snarky comments on Facebook.

She goes skiing every weekend. I would never make comments about her hobby/passion.

You're not alone in this....I get that question ALL the time....mainly from my co-workers...they ask, didn't you just go there, and why aren't you going somewhere different? Why?, when WDW is my favorite place to go. I don't even go to Universal when I'm there...just Disney. The way I see it, since they aren't paying for my vacation..they have no say so...I don't mention it so much anymore, until it's near the time to go.

You have to remember, most of the people who are acting all snarky about WDW are those from the same mindset who think "it's an amusement park just like Six Flags - except it's in the middle of Florida".

And it's these same people who make the trip to WDW only once in their lifetimes (like, say, the Senior High School Trip in 1986) and think to themselves "I've been there/done that, already".

Their loss...

Next time your friend turns up the volume when a particular song comes on, ask "haven't you already heard that song".

For us, Disney is a place that can be experienced over and over.

Just ignore them. Eventually they just smile and nod and refer to you as "the one who knows all things Disney". The good part about this is that they start pushing people toward you who want to talk about Disney. See -- it all works out well in the end -- more people who want to chat about Disney.

Have a great trip!

i am the most disney obsessed person i know. im pretty good in disney info and disney world info etc. i go twice a year and im an annual passholder... and i live in nys! ahhhh yeah im ppretttyyy obsessed. dont feel alone my fellow disneyaholic :)

couldn't put it better myself. I have no one to really chat to about my love for disney films, parks etc. When I told people I plan to marry in the wedding pavillion they were just like 'uh cool' when all I want to do is burst with excitement and dance around singing hakuna matata.

Its finally nice to see others out there with as much passion as me :jumping1:

I've stopped talking about Disney with people.

I've gotten one too many eyerolls and hearing "Disney is for kids, it's silly that you keep going" from people. I don't even talk to my husband about it. He talks constantly about his part time business and it drives me nuts so I figure I probably drive him nuts talking about Disney alot so I've stopped.

Sometimes it's kind of sad when I think about the fact that I've no one to talk Disney with but at least I've got the Disboards.

Lol. Am thinking I might be a little bit disney obsessed!!! Every night when the kids are in bed I am on here reading what everyone has to say, seeing if I can pick up any hints/tips for my trip in June. I love these boards - they're great. I will talk disney with anyone who will care to listen.

I AM SO EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT!!!

feel ya, totally! I try to keep my obsession to myself, I could go every year!

but I settle for coming here and listening to podcasts!!

It's always great helping my friends plan their trips, cause even though they might think i'm a bit fruity for Disney they know who can help them out!!pirate:

You are not alone! Some people get it and some don't. My wife has a hard time understanding my passion for Disney. It's part of my life. I grew up with Disney and have a ton of memories. Everyone has a passion and we should defintley respect that no matter what it is. You are in good company here.
