We only left the ship for gifts. But next time we will stay onboard. I just don't get that Disney feeling there. So our theroy is to keep it going and not leave the ship unless it's Castaway!

Our only DCL cruise was only three days and we wanted as much time on the ship as possible. DW and I had the adult pool almost to ourselves for most of the morning!

Went to Straw Market and Del Sol Store then off to Paradise Island, just took some picture then to Blue Lagoon to have the Swim with the Dolphins

Went to CABLE BEACH. Love it. Can't wait to go back.

Some of the other posts have not gone into the "why" part of this survey, so I will try.

First cruise I said I would stay on board, but rest of family went a shore. When I woke up from nap in lounge by the pool (aaahhhhh! that's the life) on board, I wondered what they could be doing, so I changed and wandered off the ship. Walked into town, found it scuzzy, it was run down, and everyone seemed to be trying to sell me a phone card (hello! i'm on vacation!!). Went back to the Wonder, ran into the rest of my family who was heading back, and they had been rather unimpressed except to buy a shirt from del sol to go with the del sol shirt we had purchased a year or two earlier on st. maarten.

the ship is at one of its least crowded times when in port, the better to enjoy the pool or an unrushed lunch or visit to scoops or find an unoccupied lounge chair in a preferred location. the town is seedy. i hear cable beach is lovely, but i am next on the wonder in January, and having been to CC in January, I know that it is not great swimming weather, except for people from up north, on many bahamian january days.

So I plan to stay on board, or if it was a lucky heat wave perhaps take the bus to the Wyndam and have beach and pool access there as I read about in another thread.

Great time to have a Dis Party in your room!

The ship is quite empty.

Call room Service, have a good time.

Jim

Why go all that way and then stay on the ship.

Get off, explore, enjoy. Nassau is a lot of fun!

I have to go have a kaylik (sic) beer made in the Islands :D
And I enjoy Nassau even if it scares me at times:crazy:

I don't mind Nasau, is it the nicest port? na.. but Atlantis has a decent casino, and the public beaches are very nice. As long as you stay with the "disney shopping guide shops" I never felt pressured to buy. You just have to get passed the taxi's and hair braiders.

You have so much time at the port, might as well get off for a few hours, even just to hit the public beach for a couple of hours. If you were only there as long as you are at St. Thomas, then no I probably wouldn't get off the ship, but since it's such a later all aboard, I think you have plenty of time to enjoy the port, and enjoy the ship as well.
