News Round Up 2016

I am not belittling anyone's hobbies or collections, but could somebody honestly tell me basically what a tsum tsum is, what you do with it, and what is the general appeal of them? I'm honestly curious. Is this the new pin/vinylmation/ overall collectible souvenir for WDW?
They are stackable stuff characters. They come in three sizes I believe. Most people collect the smallest size and thats the size that most characters are available in. They almost look like a small stuffed hamster or something but they are different disney characters or attractions.

The second MK after hours event is tonight. It was being handed out to random guests at MK during the today for free...

That makes sense based on who I saw wearing passes last night. The first night seemed to be a lot of groups of 2-4 adults. Yesterday the groups were much more varied - covering everyone from families with young children and elderly parents, to a bridal party (not the type of people I would expect to pay so much for this event).

This seems like total disaster. Clearly not selling, and if I had paid $159 and found out they were handing it out for free, I would be at Guest Services in a hot minute demanding my money be refunded.

Looks like Disney finally found a price point that people weren't willing to pay. Would've been smarter to do it like the Halloween and Christmas parties, start out at a reasonable price and over 10 years raise it to the "rip off" level.

Two things: I will be at WDW next week at the Boardwalk, it stinks that it is all under construction. Also, I don't mind seeing themed drinks in the parks.

I think it's a little to early to say whether this is going to be a success for Disney or not. At this short notice, most people already have their plans in place, and probably aren't looking to unexpectedly add another ~$500 to their vacation costs. If Disney stick with this long enough that people begin to factor it into their vacation plans, then it has a better chance of hitting whatever Disney's internal goal is.

Personally, it's not for me, and I resent being shuffled out of a park early, when I've paid a flat rate ticket with an expectation of a night show, because Disney want to double dip on gate take. Even I'll admit though, if there's an issue with the concept or execution of this program, the $150 probably isn't it.

I hear ya. The "we haven't yet finished this thing, so we're starting that thing" way my trip is panning out is putting me in a bad mood already. The weather looks like it's going to suck too. :charac2:

Reminds me of an old southern saying from my Grandparents about boiling a frog. The best way to cook a frog is to put them in a pot with room temperature water then turn on the eye. At a price like that the frogs jumped out of the pot. Start at half that price and you are right, in 10 years we are double that price and no one blinks at it. They have a great idea but just got far too greedy on their initial asking price.

Today in Disney History

Also today Mickey's Birthdayland closed in the Magic Kingdom which would later become Mickey's starland.

Even the frog will jump out.
Scientifically inaccurate boiling frog metaphor.

I would have been in line right behind you. :)

I have a sneaking suspicion that we haven't seen the last of these nights, though...
