Need rental help

I am looking to rent a house through homeaway. Can anyone give me some advice on how to go about verification of owner and to make sure all is legitimate?

Some things that help reputability are reviews, promptness of returning your inquiry, and professional communication in general.

It's hard to be "scammed" because those people get found out quickly. I've never had a prob using Flipkey or Homeaway, and only do business with people that return inquiries within 48-72hrs.

We just stayed here at this 4/3 for a total of $62 a night: www.flipkey.com/p275705

And we did a 2/2 last year for a total of $69.

I have rented a lot of places through Trip Advisor, Vacationrentals.com, Homeaway, etc. I have never had a problem and overall don't book with a regular hotel any more unless I have an extra day for some reason. In general I have found it saves us about 20% over booking through a management company.

It depends which county the home is in as to where you look .I always recommend checking not only the property appraiser site but the tax collector and official records .
The property appraiser will confirm the owner -the tax collector will confirm taxes are up to date but you need to remember that if there is a mortgage then the taxes will most likely be aid by the insurance company regardless of whether the mortgage is in arrears so check the official records to see if there are any outstanding liens or up coming actions against the owner too .
