Hi all,
I"m a wish granter (because of this board!!). My wish kiddo Dani, is due to fly to WDW this coming Thursday. She is 4 with short gut syndrome, continuous tube feedings and the immune system of a flea! She has already been in the hospital 3 times in the last 6 weeks. It's really on the fence right now whether or not they will be able to go.:scared1:
She keeps getting dehydrated and although she has a Boviac for extra fluids, she is easily infected. The mom can handle the feedings and fluids etc, but if Dani needs antibiotics that's a different kettle of fish. Also the mom has a good idea what to expect at WDW and GKTW because her own sister was a wish child and mom went with her sister..years ago!
Dani is 4 and a bit delayed. It's hard to cancel so close when everyone is excited. But we all want Dani to be safe. She see's her specialist on Monday so the decision will be made then.
Any prayers would be appreciated!
You guys are awesome.

Thanks!!!!:goodvibes

and yes, the name has been changed to protect confidentiality! :thumbsup2

jpraying!!!

God knows who Dani is... no worries there. :)

please keep us posted.

Hugs and prayers for "Dani" and family! We have had to postpone our wish child's trip twice but NEVER that close to travel. I hope some healing Pixie Dust floats her way and they leave as scheduled! How WONDERFUL they have such a caring Wish Granter! :flower3:

I will keep your wish Kid Dani and her family in my thoughts and prayers [-o<

Thank you everyone!!
I'll let you know what happens on Monday after the md's appointment.
I was over to see her today and she was running around and laughing. That is always a good sign! Mom says it's still touch and go.
I'll keep the WISH chapter notified of Dani's situation. They can do last minute changes if necessary but we are hoping and praying that all will go well.

Thanks again!

This little girl will definatly be in my prayers. I am 33 and suffer from Gastroparesis (little to no motility in my stomach and GI system). I know exactly what Dani is going through with line infections, dehydration and all other complications that come with the disease. I have been in the hospital for 5 months already this year with a major surgery in the mix. I had my stomach removed on June 23rd and things haven't been the same since. I have had a total of 5 infections in my lines and because I have had to have so many PICC and peripheral IV's, I don't have veins left in my arms at all for them to stick a line. Now I have a port just for my IV nutrition and hydration as well as a feeding tube in my abdomen for all meds. This is a horrible thing to live with. I pray that this little girl and her mom will be able to make this a magical trip. May God truley bless you for what you are giving to this family as well as touch this little girls' body and allow her to be able to go on this magical trip. We are trying to get to DL at the during Christmas break and I am just hoping that the final months of this year treat me right and I will stay out of the hospital so we can take our kids there and give them a lasting memory. Both my husband and I are disabled and it is tough when your kids come to you and want to do things that we just can't afford. We have been saving up a little at a time for the past 5 years. Being on disability doesn't allow us to be able to do much at all with our kids, but we do what we can. Neither one of us were disabled when we had our girls and within the past 6 years our health has gone down hill. It is so so hard when your child asks you to go somewhere and you have to say no. I wish there was an organization that would help make wishes for parents who are sick and can't afford to go on these trips. I know it seeems more magical to just grant kids' wishes, but when the parents are disabled and on a very tight fixed income it would be nice to grant the kids these wishes. My husbands disability is strictly with an accident that happened 22 years ago and caused deep tissue and vein problems. Enough about us, I will be praying for Dani that this trip will be possible later this week. It would be a dream come true for her. May GOD richly bless you for all that you do and that her dream will be granted.

Oh Yeah! :cool1:

Dani is feeling much better and everything is a *go* for tomorrow (thursday) nights red eye flight!

Thanks so much to you all. The family is really excited. Dani is bouncing off the walls..(gently so she doesnt' mess up her backpack with continuous tube feeds)
By Friday they will be at the Magic Kingdom!! I am so happy for them. I would have happily gone along to carry their suitcases!!!;)

When they return we're going to have a post holiday get together. That way I can see all the pictures and videos that they have. We will have fun remembering the trip.
Dani's future is one of a shortented life span, through her teens at best. It's trips like this, with lots of pictures, video's and people in her life who love her,
that will create precious memories.

Thanks again all of you!!
for me, After Dani's wrap up party, etc, I'll take a couple weeks for myself then stop by MAW and get another wish child!:thumbsup2

We hope Dani gets to make the trip. As a nurse I do understand. All I want is for my patient to go to Disney October. So every night as I pray for Jennytza to make the trip I will add a new friend to the prayers.:cheer2: I hope she stays healthy while there.

Dani and her family are back and had a wonderful time. I heard there were nonstop smiles on everyone's faces. From dani to mom and dad. the mom said she forogt how much fun WDW was for adults and how refreshed she felt while there.
I'n so happy for them. I'll go over there next weekend to see some of the pics they took.
I'm really happy for them!!:goodvibes

On to my next wish child! :thumbsup2
