We stayed offsit for one night two weeks ago at the Days inn Westgate---don't stay there. Even was recommeded by my travel agent - she said it's a national chain should be ok. It wasn't. I would look at what people say about the resorts and go with the most popluar. Sleeps Inn has sounded pretty good in some of the posts.

Lisa, if you look up the Orlando Hotel Discounts link at the top of the page you will find a number of properties in different price ranges, all of which have been verified as good, clean and ultra-reliable. Basically, they don't get on this site to advertise unless they have a very good track record, and all the properties are checked out at regular intervals.

IMHO, the Days Inn chain can vary quite a lot in the area; I hear good things about the Masters Inn; Magic Castle is doing well to attract business (with few complaints that I've heard of); the Quality Inn chain does pretty well in all its properties (haven't stayed at Maingate West, though).

Just keep reading and posting questions is usually the best policy, though!

I noticed you mentioned the HoJo in your post and thought I would pass along that my family had a nice and pleasant stay there not to long ago(Howard Johnson Maingate West) last August of 2000. We were there for 8 nights and had excellent housekeeping service, quality staff at front desk, and the room was in great/clean conditon.

Also, we have stayed at this location more than once years before and have never had any concerns about safety because of the quiet family oriented atmosphere. There is a pool in front of the hotel along with a nice sized playground which has been added and its' location is close to a wide variety of retaurants, grocery store, and shops.

I hope you have a great Disney vacation.

We read some really good reports on Magic Castle on this site. We made reservations there for 9 nights starting May 31. You have to register by phone and the people there were very nice & helpful. If this is any indication, it should be ok. Rates were great for us as we are on a budget this was most important to us. Because we didn't plan to go until next year we hadn't really saved much. But we just can't wait.

My DS and her husband are going down around the same time and are staying at the Holiday Inn Maingate East. Most posts for there sound ok too.

Good luck with your choices and hope you have a great trip.

Hi, we stayed at magic Castle in December for our first night in Orlando (we just needed one night off-site before checking in to on-site). I had read on these boards that it was really clean and had great prices.

We had no problems with this hotel at all, and only paid $30.00/night with a continental breakfast included. it does not have all the frills of some hotels, but we didn't need them. It was also connected to a Denny's, and had a go cart track next door.

Our trip to Disney from this hotel was no more than 10 min.

Good Luck.

Skip the Quality Inn Maingate West, if possible. We stayed ther in May 2000 and found the place threadbare, at best. The room (w/2 double beds) was small, the blankets thin and pilly, the bathroom tiny. The continental b'fast was doughnuts jor sweetrolls wrapped in plastic and beverages. We paid $44/nite conference rate and felt that it was OK but wouldn't pay a penny more. Try Comfort Suites maingate east (go to www.choicehotels.com for prices on all properties in area, also 10% internet or AAA discount).

If you want clean, safe and off site why don't you stay in a villa with pool. We have two kids and we have done that two years running and its been fantastic and much better than a hotel and I also found that the prices were excellent.

We were thinking about a villa with a pool for next year. Where do you recommend and where can I get the price ranges.
Thanks
