NE Magic on Sept 12, 2012

Sounds like you have had quite a time! Sorry, I cannot help you about the handicapped rooms.

I'm sorry. Maybe I didn't ask the question correctly as I dont need help with a handicapped room as there is not one available for all 3 cruises.

What I need help with is the CM talked me into taking a Cat 5 on deck 7 saying it isnt noisy like deck 8 under the pool and gym for Cat 4.

But now that I have had to read the 3 cruise threads people are excited for deck 8 and I just looked at the deck plans and concierge is on deck 8. I can't imagine them putting the better rooms on a noisy deck if there wasn't insulation from the pool and gym?

So that's the question... Should I get moved from a Cat 5 on deck 7 to a Cat 4 on deck 8 when the DVC pricing was for all verandahs from 4a - to 7a if they still have any deck 8 rooms for all 3 cruises?

Basically I trusted the CM to put me in the best room, but now I'm doubting that. But I don't want to go to the trouble of getting deck 8 if in fact it is noisy.

I hope this makes more sense? Thanks!

I forgot to mention, there is a FB page called Magic to Canada. It is difficult to find, and at the moment, there are only 3 of us on it, and no one has posted lately, but if we get folks there, I am sure it will take off. Or, someone could start a new one that is easier to find, I am not that computer literate:rotfl:

Thanks Lynn! I'll check it out hen I get home tonight and can access my laptop.

Thanks Lynn - BTW, we are Guarantee so no cabin number yet -
I am going to order a fish extender tonight - saw some on ebay - any suggestions.

A couple of more questions -

Is there a lot or any pin trading on the cruise - should we bring our pins and landyards?

Excursions - are there any threads with reviews - I have seen a couple of negatives about the train on so now I am leary. We are looking at the photogrphy one, the whale watching and the Citadel and 1 or 2 others... Clearly we need to only pick 2! Or is everyone mainly doing ht hop on off or on their own.

Photos - Any idea if it is best to but the package up front - do you really save $4's?

Sorry - the frantic planning is under way!

Enjoy!

In answer to the deck 8 or 7 question......we stayed deck 8 for the past 2 cruises on the wonder and didnt have any noise problem......i would book the room that fits u more comfortably.

Hello to all. This is our first cruise. Is there anyone interested in playing some social bridge on the sea days? .....Sand Dollar

:thanks:

I just got off the phone with Brandon, a supervisor at DCL, who did a couple things...

1) Apologized for the rude CM I initially got who put me back in queue making me wait an hour before getting my 2nd CM who booked all 3 cruises.

2) Told me that all of Cat 4s were gone and wished he could move me over with the DVC pricing but the rooms were sold out. Too bad I had surgery last Friday and couldn't research til now. But then he assure me that the room I have on deck 7 is in a great location where it is much quieter and the only difference was a few feet in front of the pull down bed and an extra chair. He said that though we wanted it for space to put the luggage that we could always get the room host to lift the beds and put the bags underneath. He also said the deck 8 rooms that are quiet are Concierge under Cove Cafe, but the regular Cat 4 rooms run the risk of noise. I don't know if he was just trying to make me feel better, lol!

3) He also took requests like dining request for Lumierres for Semi-Formal night, making a table request like another mother (60s)/daughter (30s), making sure the bed is split for two twins for me and mom (where he said they did not have twins on the Dream/Fantasy), etc. He said he was sure we would have a great cruise.

4) He also informed me of the following tips...
- Semi-Formal night is on night 2
- Pirates night is on night 4 with fireworks unlike the Wonder/Alaska
- There is no High Tea in Palo anymore on any of the ships to make room for more Brunch where we can go to Rockin Bar to see if there are any extra Palo or Spa reservations or to change dining assignments.
- Jeans are fine for cruise casual nights especially since Canada may be chilly.
- Twin beds are not offered on Dream/Fantasy

:thanks: for everyone's advice and for letting me vent! If there are going to be any room tours or anyone who doesn't mind me seeing/hearing their Deck 8 room for the future it would be greatly appreciated! :worship:

I just made a FB group called "Disney Magic 9/12 Cruise to Canada" since I couldn't find that other one. Let me know if this one shows up for people to join- I've never made a FB group before...

I could be an idiot or just not know how to search:rotfl2:
I can't find it.

Has anyone come up with a fun snappy name for this cruise? Last summer on our Alaskan cruise, we were the Klondike Kruisers....we should be something like the Inaugural Magic Eastern Canadian Grand Finale......okay so that's a mouthful....any suggestions if there isn't one?

Haha- we should stick with something super long! I love it! Maybe something super long that can be made into an acronym...

Hi Everyone!

I like the "Grand Finale" part of the name - kinda cool - I wonder if there will be anything special for us given that it is the last cruise from NY.

Back a page or so I posted some questions but I think it got lost in all the acitvity. Anyways, I was wondering about a couple of things..

Do they do pin trading on the cruises? Should we bring our Lanyards etc?

What are everyone's thoughts on the tours - are there reviews anywhere - We are interested in the Photography, Whale watchng, Citedel and the museum - but want to leave some time for our own window shopping. I read somewhere that the train one was not so good?

Ok - mUst get a FE today - any thoughts besides EBAY on purchasing one?

Think some ofthe ideas I have read about autographs are great - the pillowcases, vinylmation etc - Must decide can't do everything now!

Can it be that Palo is fully booked for our our trip already?? I keep checking online but it says sold out? WOW!

Has anyone ever ordered the room decorations from the ship - are they worth it ? I want to have something in the room when we arrive so do it myself is not an option - want the kids to be surprised for their Birthday!

Thanks everyone!

I read somewhere that the train one was not so good? We went to Peggy's Cove and the Titanic Cemetary in Halifax, and really enjoyed it. Peggy's Cove was exactly what you would picture an Atlantic Canada fishing village to be! In Saint John we took the Riverboat Tour. It was very relaxing and absolutely beautiful scenery. We had time in both places to walk around on our own near the port and spend some money :cool1:. There are links to my pictures (including the Navigators and all the other assorted documents) in my signature. I apologize for the quality of the documents, I'm an old lady trying to scan them with a new Ipad!

Can it be that Palo is fully booked for our our trip already?? I keep checking online but it says sold out? WOW!Reservations will probably be available once we board. Check the Navigator that you'll receive at the port, it should tell you where to go...or just look for me, I'll be heading there too!

Yesterday afternoon I typed out a nice long post, hit the "Submit Reply" button and our office internet connection went dead. It's back now, so I'm in touch with the world once again!

I'm not going to attempt to recreate yesterday's post, but I did mention that my two friends are Julie (a fellow DIS'er and someone I've cruised with before and will be cruising with again) and Trina, whom I've known since first grade, not a DIS'er, and I think this is her first Disney cruise. She says she's been on DCL before, but when she asked me if the casino was as nice on this ship as the one she was on before, I think maybe she was misinformed about what cruise line she was on:rotfl2:!
