National vs Hertz

We have always used National when going to Disney because of the way you can bypass the line and just go get your car. Also, dropping off at the Swan when staying at the Beach Club is convienient. We are going to Universal Studios this time and see that Hertz has a drop off at the the PBH. Does Hertz work the same as National? Can you bypass the line and just go pick up our car at the airport? Looking for any suggestions. Teenagers are excited about going to Harry Potter attraction. In advance, THANKS!

Hertz has two main programs, Hertz #1 Club which will save time at the airport, but still requires a stop at the desk. Hertz #1 Gold is the other program, which requires no stop at Gold Canopy locations (special line at non-Gold Canopy locations), just find your name on the board and go to the car, contract is completely printed and you just show ID on the way out.

Hertz #1 Gold has a charge ($60.00), but it's not hard to get it free (legit and legal ways).

On the general, Hertz typically has better quality vehicles then the other agencies (remember National is part of the Enterprise/National/Alamo organization and cars are often shared). Hertz also offers Prestige and Fun Collection vehicles which are make/model reserveable, which is the main reason I choose them.

Also, not to forget that Hertz does have a presence on Disney property (inside Shades of Green, which is in the MK area by the Poly).

Local (Orlando area) rentals can pick-up/drop-off vehicles, there (you don't have to be military because of the location).
