The next race in the 2012 season takes us to Phoenix International Raceway for the "AdvoCare 500" on SUNDAY, November 11th.
Qualifying is set for FRIDAY, November 9th. Please make your picks before qualifying is scheduled to begin.
Phoenix International Raceway is an oval track with a lap distance of 1.00 miles. 312 laps of racing makes it easy math that we'll see 312 miles when the checkered flag drops.
#48 J Johnson has 4 wins here since 1975. That makes him the winningest driver here.
Other history:
In March this year, #55 M Martin had pole honors in a race won by #11 D Hamlin.
In 2/11, #99 C Edwards was atop the leaderboard when the race started and #24 J Gordon was on top when the race ended.
In 11/11, #17 M Kenseth was in the first grid but gave way to race winner #5 K Kahne.
In 4/10, #51 A J Allmendnger turned in the fastest qualifying time and #39 R Newman took the trip to Victory Lane.
In 11/10, #9 C Edwards went wire to wire.
In 4/09, #55 M Martin went wire to wire.
In 11/09, #56 M Truex sat on the pole in a race #48 J Johnson won.
#48 J Johnson won both races in 2008.
OK! I am ready to pick.
My Phoenix picks are:
J Johnson <~~~ Are you kidding me? I can't not pick him. Hmmm...I think that's a double negative that works...
B Kezelowski <~~~ Watching him and the #48 race is like watching a gunfight at high noon in the Old West....
D Hamlin <~~~ He should improve on his 20th place finish at Texas....
JR!!! <~~~~ I'm thinking he'll do well in the last 2 races of the season....
G Biffle <~~~ Watch...he's going to make things even tighter for the #48 & the #2 with a strong performance...
My spare will be T Stewart,....his 5th place finish at Texas surprised me....but...it didn't convince me to pick him at Phoenix......
