***MyMagic+ & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

I have not gone through the entire thread to see if this was answered already. Sorry if it has been, but I'd consider this official policy as of right now since I talked to two separate people, one at tickets and one at internet help desk.

If you are an AP holder and have an exchange certificate (green cards that say "Exchange Certificate") for renewal or or you have received an exchange certificate for a new AP, you CANNOT link your tickets to My Disney Experience until you exchange them for a real ticket at one of the ticket booths. Therefore you are not eligible for FP+.

When I asked what I could do she asked if I had been invited to a test. I said no, but we are going in November and I was worried about getting signed up. She said as of now the answer is we cannot link certificates and that it's not set in stone that FP+ will be up and running this year. I said "OK, we'll wait and see". As Rex would say, "I got a bad feeling about this".

It's all so unorganized and poorly communicated. We are a forgiving group of addicts! :)

Name one other company that could get away with this kind of craziness.

If you follow Apple prior to and during an iPhone launch its very similar. Leaked and lost prototypes, rumors from unnamed sources, haters hating, fanboys who can't wait and tons of miss information from staff at apple or retailers. Inevitably people crash the website on launch day and their IT gets bashed. People line up for hours and some get left out when apple sells out despite the anticipated demand. And this from a Tech company that has been through 8 such launches. Come September, it'll happen all over again.
My point is this test launch is not all that unique. The challenge is that we on these boards want to know everything right now, and we are willing to make it up or believe anything to satisfy that desire.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that someone somewhere is going, "CRAP! We forgot about vouchers! How the heck are we supposed to handle THEM?!?"

Thank you for this. I just sat down with my vouchers to see if I could link them, then, after looking, decided I'd better hold off. We're not going for another three months, so I'm just not going to stress about it and see what's happening then.

Good move...

:rotfl:Exactly!! Wouldn't you LOVE to be a fly on that wall?!

Cheshire Figment (ticketing CM) said this on the Guest Test of Magic Bands (Official Notice) thread:
"I have spoken to a friend who is a very high-level technical specialist in Disney's IT Department. Her description is that this is a railroad designed by upper management and that while the railroad is in operation, they are still building tracks and locomotives."

Gotta love it!:rolleyes1

She also predicts that turnstiles will return by the end of next year, but with both RFID and magnetic strip capability - I have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that the idea of prebooking FPs will have also come and gone by then.

I'd find this so much more amusing if I didn't already have trips planned during this roll-out period:headache:;)

So, I'm officially letting this control my life, ha! We are flexible with our dates for next July and had been going back and forth about which to choose. I'm a teacher and can't use any technology during the day on weekdays (for personal reasons,) so I pulled out a 2014 calendar and figured out which check in date would put our 60 day mark on a weekend so I'd be able to do all of this as soon as we were able. Pathetic, party of one!

This is interesting. I have a green AP exchange voucher, which is for a DVC PAP that I purchased online was most definitely able to link it with no problem. I'm not going until oct so I'm not eligible for the test - so no word on whether or not I would be able to pick Fp or customize a magic band.

Someone in another thread noted that they purchased their ap voucher at a store - is that where yours is from? Maybe that's the difference...

I'm wondering if "new" AP vouchers have different codes. The old ones had standard ticket codes.

And where did you enter it in? On the old Passholder site page that used to give you access to the passholder site, that now says you can't enter them in if you've purchased them since February? Or via the "Tickets and MagicBands" section of MDX?

I entered it on the my Disney experience website under the tickets section, exactly the same way I entered the 5 day hoppers from UT for other members of our party. This is my first time purchasing an AP so I haven't previously had any access to a pass holder site.

For both our 5 day hoppers and the AP certificates, I had to select the option that said older tickets/passes vs the 2 other options (one was will call and the other was recently purchased passes I think).

I typed in the code on the bottom of the AP voucher and it was added to my reservations. It says " DVC PAP promo certificate" under the "tickets"'section for both my sister and I.

It's all so confusing isn't it? I have 4 DVC AP exchange certificates bought directly through Disney ticketing in June 2013 that cannot be entered and linked. At first I said I had a voucher and they seemed confused until I said they are exchange certificates.

Looking at MDE you can enter in confirmation numbers to will call tickets, but this does not include exchange certificates. Like I said, these are the green cards with a bar code on the back, which makes it strange why that number cannot be entered and linked.

at somepoint does anyone think Disney will make a push to simplify ticket types? it seems there are as many ticket types out there as there are features to MyMagic & FP+.

Will Call is different than exchange certificates themselves...although you can get exchange certificates for will call pickup. With Will Call, you are supposed to get a barcode in the confirmation letter that can be entered, although I don't know how it works with Will Call vouchers (aka Exchange Certificates).

If you physically have the exchange cards, what format is the ticket ID in? Is it the old format (WXX:NNN, etc.) or is the new 12-character codes? Those DVC PAP certificates are old-style.

I predict a lanyard fob of some sort. This will appear on the scene about the time Disney realizes that people wearing magicbands might buy magicband accessories, but stop buying lanyards and all those pretty pins to wear on them.

A gate CM has already suggested I purchase a cover for our bands as he has heard it makes them more comfortable. LOL. I have also been upsold to by the bag check guy who told me to rent a stroller or a locker for my heavy bag.

Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere already, but does anyone have any suspicion as to how they will handle the Rider Switch option now? With little ones, I rely on this heavily!

Not for sure, but likely it won't change at all...they can still hand out a Rider Switch pass and handle it as always.
