MVMCP whats all the fuss about?

mom2rtk - I LOVE your pics!!! We are planning to attend this November. I'm hoping we get to see all the fun things you have mentioned. :)

I have a friend who was doing a solo day at MK on a party day. She planned to stay to watch the parade and fireworks. She had a long sleeved sweatshirt on and kept the sleeves pulled down. She mingled in with the crowds on main st and actually chatted up a family sitting next to her (with arm bands exposed) so CM would think she was with them! She did get to see the parade and fireworks, but said it was a "hassle" dodging the CMs.

Well considering she shouldn't have been the in the first place if she didn't pay for a ticket....

The parade and fireworks are what most people pay the extra money to experience.

We have been to MVMCP, whats the fuss about? The added cost isnt worth it, am I missing something? You pay that hudge price for some cookies and hot coco? Even if you dont pay for the tickets to mvmcp you can still stay in the park watch the parade and show on the castle. Walk around and enjoy other stuff other than rides. You have to have a arm band to ride the rides. They dont "kick" anyone out of the park. You can stay till parties over. BUT AGAIN , if your there all day, or go to MK on a different day, you can still see the parades , fireworks, etc. I dont get it...please help what am i missing?

Fam of 5 $308 Please help me understand .... Did we skip somehting or not do something we where suppose to?

Ok so your COMPLETELY reading my post the wrong way. I asked a simple question and your attacking me. ALL Im asking "what are we missing" so I dont miss it again. We are going back in Dec. and Im trying to figure out "WHAT we are missing" did we miss a dance party? Something in a building somewhere that we didnt know about. My kids have seen all the greats, mickey, mouse , donald etc. I get it. Yes they turned away guest who didnt have wristbands at the rides, we where allowed on the ride. I get that. Im not going to play ninja dad, duck and hide behind every trash can when a CM walks by..:lmao: I just wanted to know ,,well IM tired of repeating myself..:santa:

snow on main street, everynight and at hollywood studios
Santa, everynight at MK and some resorts
Rides til midnight, staying onsite EMH?
Want hot coco and cookie, you do know you can bring food in a backpack, thermos and a ziplock bag and your set!

OK OK im just joking around now, with you. No need to get hot in your seat....MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I used to go every year...but actually missed last year. Will go this year though. For me, it's starting to become an every other year event. They have taken away perks and raised prices..so it's sometimes hard to justify the cost for me. We used to get a special photo op, a terrific party button (great for collecting), they limited the number of tickets they sold, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas show was incredible...all these things have gone away. Now, it's very crowded. And yes, there are folks in there that shouldn't be. I have been stopped from entering a restroom until I showed my wristband. And I have seen CMs walking along the parade route asking those sitting there to show their wristbands!! THose without them, asked to leave. I remember one person say they didn't need to have a party ticket..they already had their park pass for the day. She tried arguing that she had already paid to get into MK, and wasn't paying extra for a parade!!! She was escorted out!!!
I wish they would clear the parks like they did in 'the old days'...it wasn't an issue then.
But...I do enjoy the parade each year. And I like the special holiday character meet and greets. I love the festive feeling. The snow on Main St is special. The fireworks are special. Yeah, you can see 'snow' over at DHS any night during the holiday season, but it's not Main St, is it??? You either enjoy it or you don't.

Wow....I always find it interesting when someone is taking something that doesn't belongs to them, starts complaining about it not being easy to take it!!! Your friend had no right to be there...she was basically stealing. Is Disney going to go broke due to her? No. And you say it was just one person, not a family group. So...I guess it's okay to cheat if you're just one person???
When you don't have a wristband, you don't get to use the restrooms, you can't buy anything..anywhere, which is probably a blessing since you can't use those restrooms!!! You can't ride any rides. You are asked to show your wristband along the parade route. So, I guess it's okay to cheat as long as you are not standing along the route. Of course, you can always blend in with some strangers.
People never cease to amaze me.

Wow. It is too bad she wasn't caught and forced to either buy a ticket or leave. Makes me glad that when we were at a Mvmcp they came up and down Main Street a few times, and had us all show them our wrists.

Theft is theft, and what your friend did was wrong. Too bad the people she befriended for a cover didn't turn her in.

It can be done. It is hard, but if you use your best Party Crashing Ninja Skills, you might get away with it. It's not like breaking into Ft. Knox, lol. I don't think the parties - especially the Christmas one - are worth the trouble, but if that was her heart's desire, good for your friend.

Disney knows they'll miss a few folks with their sweeps. If they really cared about keeping people out, they would shut the park down and re-open.

Although I've never been accosted by the Wristband Police in a bathroom, I've hit their Blockade Checkpoints. I consider it a pain and VERY unmagical. I really wish they'd shut the park down again.

Can we assume you were there on the 11th? We had just come out of the train station on BTMRR when the deluge hit. OH MY! Now THAT was a ride.....

I think it was 12/11/11. It was the Sunday night after disapalooza. It was wet...but still awesome.

I was there that night also, we were right outside the dance party when it started pouring, we just watched the kids dance with Chip and Dale till it slowed down :goodvibes

We were in the park twice when we did not have tickets (both times after leaving crystal palace and LTT). The time we left crystal palace was shortly after 7pm and they were definetely checking and they kind of escorted my family out (we wanted to leave anyway) but last year when we left LTT, it was a bit after 8pm and no one looked or said anything to us. To be honest we could of walked around for a while. We wanted to leave and left but they were definetely not checking later on.

I put off going until Dec 2005. We were going to go on Wednesday. We never got there. Going to the airplane my sister had a medical problem this prevented us from even going to Orlando at all. On February 2007 my sister passed away from medical complications. We never got to see the party and I will never see it as well. So go and experience it at least once. Then you can:sad1: make up your mind one way or the other.

While I think MNSSHP is a better party I enjoyed MVMCP as well. We like the parades, fireworks and character shows. We do not like the cookies or hot cocoa but the rest of it is so much fun at least to us. Most of the party for us is just being there riding the rides and all the decorations that are up it is just magical. It might not be for everyone and that's ok each family has to make their own decisions I always think because everyone is so different.

On another note I also want to say I have watched them escort people out as well. I have also watched them rope sections off and in order to gain access you needed to show your wrist band. I have also had one older employee ask where my 2 year olds wrist band was and was at first not going to let her in to see the character because of it until another employee said two year olds do not need a wrist band and since we had bands clearly we were there for the party and let us in. So they are watching and making sure. Do I think some get away with it.. sure they stick to certain areas and try to avoid, but I do not think that is something that should happen or anyone should encourage.

We had just gone into BTMRR and it wasn't raining, wasn't even dripping. Since it was dark we couldn't see what the clouds looked like. There was nobody in line in front of us, so it was just a few minutes later that our train pulled out of the station...... right into that downpour. OMG! That rain HURTS when you're riding that fast! And then we got to buy towels and new shirts for all of us. It was quite a night!

Many thanks! I hope you have a great time! :cool1:

mom2rtk just hearing that Captain Jack was there last year (I missed him last year by one person at MNSSHP and was in the 4 hour line from he** during OMDD on Leap Day to meet Flynn Ryder and didn't know he was there) and the picture in your signature will make it worth the money I just paid for the party. I have never met the prince, step-mom, or stepsisters. Now I can't wait!

I hope that same Cindy group is there this year again too. I hope you get to go and meet all the characters you want!

Thank you all for your posts. Guess what, now my mom, aunt, uncle and cousins are going with us this year!!:cool1::cool1::thumbsup2 SO, we will be attending with them. They need to see it, and I enjoy and love my family , so Im will no ruin it for them.

We are going this year for the first time. :goodvibes I can't wait! This is our first time going at this time of year so we are very excited.

We usually do MNSSHP!

There where people everywhere on main street that didnt have wristbands watching parade etc. Walking around the park , we saw families get turned away from rides due to not having wristbands. Are you sure you just was so happy that you didnt even notice? BUt still, you didnt answer my question, what are we paying for other than cookie and hot coco?

You're paying for entrance to the park to see special parades, christmas-themed shows, snow on main street, rare characters out for meet & greets, and lastly, the free munchables you mention.

If you went once and didn't enjoy it...what do you need explained to you? I went once and didn't feel I got my money's worth either. I didn't think "What am I missing?" I just thought "Hmm, this isn't really a value for me." especially considering I'm an AP holder. So I crossed the party off my list and haven't been back since. It's pretty simple.

Others enjoy it. You didn't. No big mystery to figure out! :thumbsup2

Going for the first time this year and I can't WAIT!!!

I suppose the "worth" of the party is subjective. As my family and I have not yet been, and we are HUGE Disney fans, we are very excited. I find it worth the price to see the characters in their Christmas gear and just feel the general excitement of a holiday themed party at Disney World. I don't care if the snow is fake. I appreciate the magic. I BELIEVE!!!! pixiedust: *ahem* ;)

Are we delusional for paying a rather huge amount for what others can apparently see for free? Maybe. But I'm happy in my delusion...and I'm a slightly paranoid rule follower who would suffer massive guilt for crashing a party I didn't pay for!

:thumbsup2

I love Christmas, and always watch the Disney Christmas parade on tv. It brings a tear to my eye every time! This year, we have tickets to attend MVMCP, and I am so excited! And yes, I am over 10 years old! (X 5)! Plan to bring many tissues with me; if I cry watching on tv, will I blubber watching it in person??? I think, yeah, probably! The Gingerbread men , soldiers, dancing reindeer and even Santa...he used to visit me personally at my house every year, and even leave gifts! We go waaaay back, he, he!
I am not a rule breaker, and would never try to sneakily get something I hadn't paid for...it would really tick me off if I was trying to find a good place to view the parade, and some people w/o tickets had already staked some of the good places out! Unfortunately, there are people who feel entitled...if they want it, they take it!
If the crowds are too much for me, and I dont enjoy it, then it will just be an experience I didnt care for and dont have to repeat.

My DD8 is dancing in that parade!! I'll be tearing up while I watch too!! :goodvibes

Congratulations on hiding in the crowd like a roach under the kitchen cabinets long enough to see something you didn't pay for. What a big man you are. Your children must be so proud.

That's what I feel like saying to all the people who smuggle themselves in. Casual theft is just so, so gross. What a turnoff.

I love the party... not sure I can explain why but we always feel like we get our money's worth and more.

I've also seen CMs really hunt down those without the bracelets and escort them out of the park. It's never appeared to be rude or harsh but they do move them on out.

I love my MCMCP!
