This movie might show a new trend for Disney movies..a trend towards losing the objective taht they are making family movies. I bought this movie for my 2yr DD and it saddened me to hear references made to sex video "Girls Gone Wild", Downloading things from Napster and Gonzo having nipples. Are any of these things that we need to expose our children to?

I sent an email to Disney to express my concern and received a reply stating that I should have expected this since it was a PG rated movie. But that's exactly my point..IT'S PG!!!!! Why should a Disney Muppet movie ever have to be rated PG and even if it is and PG is for 12 and under...does Disney feel that this is the target market that watch "Girls Gone Wild" of need to know that Gonzo has nipples?

I don't think so..I just don't think so

The Muppets have always had jokes that go over little ones heads, kinda like Loony Tunes. And with all due respect, it is PG, whether you think Disney should be making PG movies has nothing to do with the fact that you should have watched it first and determined if it was appropriate for your child.

Unless you plan on homeschooling, your kid is going to find out about napster (Which is legal BTW) and other downloading fairly quickly. Second, wether you like it or not girls gone wild is now considered culture, and regulary spoofed all over the networks... and lastly i bet your child knows that they themselves have nipples... so why shouldn't gonzo. Not to mention gonzo is male, and next time you take your kid swimming they are going to see many bare breasted men..... anyway i think you should lighten up and as the last poster said... you are responsible for screening it first. If its not what you want take it back.

Maybe the OP did watch it before letting her child see it. She doesn't say one way or the other. However, I have to agree that the nipple thing or napster for that matter, would not bother me. "girls gone wild" I think is more a reference older kids and adults would get. The kind of thing that goes right over little kid's heads. I think lots of PG movies (Shrek, The Incredibles, Shark Tale) have things like that in them, that's why they are PG. :) You can always choose not to buy them. Disney puts out G movies too. :goodvibes

You have to expect a little risky humor with the Muppets. Don't you remember the old Muppet shows, they were filled with a lot of suggestive material. And the movie was rated PG, not G.

I don't blame the original poster for being upset. I was a little shocked myself when I saw it and they mentioned "Girls Gone Wild." On the flip side, if your DD is only 2, do you think she should be watching PG rated movies? I know they are the Muppets but look at the suggestive occurrences in Toy Story 2. When Buzz sees Jessie doing that flip on the matchbox car track and he's wings popped up. Isn't that suggestive? Kids nowadays unfortunately learn a lot worse things on television. You just have to monitor what they watch when you can. Just my 2cents.

it is sad, when i remeber when napster was free that when i typed in disney i was got all these porno type things with the characters in it. It is very sad that people have sick minds of these thing and some of this things are just to get you to download thing to put viruses on your computer. it is sad but that america.

If more than 20 people had actually seen this movie, we might actually be able to have a fun debate!

< and Gonzo having nipples.>

please someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't everybody have nipples?

I watched this movie on TV before I purchased it for my DS (3 1/2) and I thought most of the suggestive things were way over his head so it wouldn't be harmful for him to see - I don't think the Muppets were ever really intended for children anyway, I have the old Muppet Show on DVD and most of the material is geared towards adults IMO

OP, just so you know your child WILL LEARN BAD THINGS anyway(no matter how much you try to sheild them), if not from TV it will be from friends, school etc. - it is our responsibilty as parents to teach them right from wrong so they know what behavior/language/whatever is acceptable

I loved that movie. That kind of humor just goes over the little one's heads.

I was just hoping that it wouldn't be as scarry as the orginal. But, it wasn't, so the kids won't be seeing it any time soon.

(tip) find a friend that has seen the movie first and ask them.
If you don't know any one who has seen it rent it first.

It is disturbing but for the little ones (2-6) that would be easy. Older but still little (7-10) should not be allowed to see it. 11 is still too young so suggestivly let them see it when they are 12 years old. Remember 7-11 is too young...

To quote "The Great Muppet Capper" : I don't care how artistic it is, I'm not taking my clothes off for anybody!"

That is what some of the humor of Muppets is like. There is stuff for older than 10 year olds in it. That is why it is popular with all age groups. That and Statlor and Waldorf.

I love the muppets! Muppets Christmas Carol and Muppets Treasure Island are favorites.
What really shocks me is that anyone paid money for Muppets Wizard of Oz! I saw it on TV and was horrified, it was so bad. :earseek:

What I find truely sad is how many posters on this website feel the "girls gone Wild" is a part of our culture, that it's ok to expose our children to this kind of humor because "it just goes over their heads"..I guess the real question is why is everyone so desparate to defend Disney and the Muppets at the expense of our children being exposed to anything like this? Apparently, I am in the minority when I expect a Muppets movie to be rated "G" like multiple Muppet movies before and even more of a minority to keep my children from viewing it.

I wish everyone could realign their priorities and be more concerned about their children than any multibillion dollar company.
:confused3 :sad2:

I don't think anyone isn't thinking of their children, they just want the parents to do their jobs and protect their own children, not interfere with everyone else. Put the kids in the playpen, don't make the world one.

Yeah, ah what gives. I love the Muppets and I also like the Wizard of Oz, this version was trash. I didn't mind the Girls Gone Wild Comment as well as the nipple comment with Gonzo and all the sexual inudendos that were there with Miss Piggy and everyone she came in contact with.
Yes, the movie was a PG but, since when were the Muppets a PG item?
I also thought the acting was horrible as well as the music. Why does everything have to be so "urban", why can't people stay true to the story.
Just my thoughts
