Wow! Love all the replies! It's so nice to learn more about you... thanks for sharing!
wallyboag - "Hi Patrick" ... I figured with your username you must be a pretty big Disney fan. That's great that you met your wife at Disneyland... how special! Some guys that used to work with me were huge Ducks fans. They had season tickets one year and had to go to all (I think all) the games to get some special commemorative hockey stick - considering we're an hour drive, they were pretty dedicated. Wow, that must have been 10 years ago.
believe79 - how special that you got married at Disneyland! I bet you have some wonderful photos. You know, I've seen a lot of photos of couples getting married at WDW, but I don't think I've ever seen any photos of Disneyland weddings. (ironically). My DH and I used to watch ER all the time in the 90's, but I'm embarrased to say we kind of got sidetracked with other shows - I think cause we then got a lot more channels? That is a lot of extracurricular activities in one week!
Evan (Snooptoo) - great to hear you jump in. "wind chill"... lol! Our honeymoon was also our first trip to WDW (why I never went with my family, I'll never know). So your first cruise was with Disney? I'd be curious to hear what your thoughts are about other cruise lines. It's funny how you can get hooked after one cruise. Our son (also named Kyle) would totally bond with your son with that unknown force that brings young gamers together. Too bad my Kyle won't be on this cruise. We are big Star Wars fans, too... I used to think I knew a lot, then Kyle started reading all the novels. Now I have to ask him for info. Do you say "ay tee - ay tee" or "at at"? - my boss and I butt heads on that one. Hey, look what I discovered a few years ago: sKYwaLkEr. We found out a few years ago that our anniversary is on the unofficial Star Wars day (May the 4th). My bro and I had an Atari 2600 (and Intellivision)... loved it! I still have all those games up in the attic. We have wii and PS3 now, but I can't really follow the types of games that our kids like. (always on a quest and battling something). I feel so old! What do you think about the changes coming to Star Tours?
alltheparks - how fortunate that you've been able to visit all the parks! Like Even, I'd like to make it to all the parks some day. We love Legos, too! Did you hear that Legoland is adding a "Star Wars" area to their Miniland? From the info I found, though, it doesn't look like it opens until March 31. One of these days, we will assemble the Darth Vader TIE Fighter (the big kit, not the little one).
Bellecruiser - glad you think this sharing was a good idea. I was a freshman at Cal Poly (SLO) when Disney came up to interview for their summer program. Positions were food and beverage, attractions, merchandise, custodial... stuff like that. Nothing behind the scenes. Once I was ready to graduate, I sent them a resume for an IE job - they invited me in for an interview a LONG time later, by then I had already accepted position with another company. To this day, I kick myself for not at least going to the interview (on Disneyland property). Sorry for the tangent - I'm sure the college program has changed vastly over the last two decades, and I'm sure the one in Florida is much larger than CA. Maybe Patrick (wallyboag) can give you more recent info. It wasn't much money, but it was the funnest job I ever had... people wondered why I didn't work closer to my house (I had to stay with family friends while I worked there since it was too far to drive each day). They just didn't understand my reasons for wanting to be there, I guess.
Bob - I don't know, this is the only source of info I know about individual rooms: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/roomreport.cfm?Room=5128&ship=Disney%20Wonder Maybe Snooptoo might know?
AulaniP - I love your user name since it's like my DD's name, almost. Plus it's the name of the new DVC property. I had a good friend in college who was from Manteca. I had never heard of it before then. Sounds like the kids' activities really keep you busy! I'm sure your family will love their first cruise (though they might be spoiled starting with Disney, lol). I think you'll like the experience (service, food, entertainment) better than Carnival, but I might be biased. You booked back in June? I hope you got the 'kids sail free' promo? It does sound like we have several scouts here on this thread!
Alaska3 - I still need to try out Holland and Princess. I do like RCCL (though fun, I never feel as 'welcomed' or 'at home' as I feel on Disney). I love Celebrity - as much as DCL (gasp!) but for different reasons. DH and I have learned that NCL is NOT for us - their pitiful private island in the Bahamas DOES have great snorkeling, though. I had a brief exposure to Alaska on a Crystal Cruise in '98. We started in Vancouver and went northbound. Back then they went way up to Valdez before coming back down to Anchorage. Man, whatever body of water that is sailing in to Valdez.. pristine - total glass - and all the distant mountains, just beautiful. My sister and I were up in the lounge watching dolphins swimming by the ship.. at 10pm! I'd like to get my DH up there sometime. But I think I was spoiled with a 10 night cruise, and I have yet to see an itinerary that hits all the stops I want (at a price I want). I have a former cruise mate friend living up in Alaska... I hear it's been pretty darn cold! Where you are, too? We are also DVC members - bought about 2 years ago through resale. Was debating about buying another small contract before the big 'change' next month, but decided to hold off and see if prices drop.
