Marathon Weekend 2017!

So watching the weather here for next week as I have an hour+ drive to the airport on Friday. Thursday night's forecast is for ice and snow. Our first of the year. Ugh I am hoping that changes! Down here in the south when it snows people go crazy and I really hate being on the highway with them. Same thing happened last year for Princess weekend and I ended up heading to Little Rock a day early as I had an early am flight and stayed at a hotel with a free shuttle. I may end up doing that again - my flight isn't until noon but snow is forecast for Thursday night and Friday. :/

Nice job. Just got a GoPro for Christmas and I'd like to use it for running Goofy next week. Did you use a hand held grip?
You should get one of those battery powered gimbals so your video looks steady even when running, but I think they are expensive.

Hey everyone! Just got back from a daytrip (lunch at Sanaa, Springs-wandering) and wanted to let y'all know that Osceola Pkwy is a bit of a mess right now (construction in ROW and towards the woods) from Victory Way to about halfway to DAK. Both east- and west-bound. Apologies if this has already been posted (I don't recall seeing it here) and things might change by next Sunday, but you speedsters who make it to DAK-WWOS stretch in low light conditions, please be careful of any off-road shenanigans, peeing, what-have-you... :)

In the next year or two the Osceola Pkwy/Victory way interchange will be getting completely revamped and changed with a flyover,I wonder if construction will be complete by the 2018 marathon weekend or if it will be a construction mess.I guess they could change the course and add the trail into WWoS if a portion of the road can't be used.

Alright, all finished! Attached in the following two PDFs you will find the Marathon Weekend DIS List complete with everyone that wanted to participate that is running the 5k, 10k, HM, or M. We have a nice representation across many corrals, many races, and many paces. A nice collective group that together is going to crush whatever goal we set for ourselves! We have the following number of people participating:

5k - 34 DIS'ers
10k - 29 DIS'ers
HM - 58 DIS'ers
M - 59 DIS'ers

Total Unique DIS'ers - 80 DIS'ers

As proposed earlier by @Weluvdisny, if you'd like, please wear a green ribbon in your upper left bib hole to signify being a DIS member. In addition, we have pre-race meet ups scheduled for all 4 races and post-race meet-ups for the 5k and Marathon. Lastly, we also have a meet up scheduled at 2pm on Friday at Hurricane Hannah's (please give @Keels a heads-up if you plan on attending).

The second PDF is a specific sorting of the DIS marathon runners and what time of day they will pass the Boardwalk (~24.4 miles) as we can all wave to @Mimsy Borogove. If anyone else would like something like this specific to a different location let me know.

If I made any errors, or if I missed your information let me know. Otherwise, I wish you the best of luck in the remaining training runs between now and Disney and I'm really excited to put some faces to the usernames that we've been conversing with for so long. Good luck everyone!

Sorry if this has been asked already, but will I be able to get my run photos from the photo pass I have with my AP?

I'm still confused by exactly how, on what page, in the my photo pass area that I can enter the 16 digit (11 digit race code + 5 digit bib number) to have the photo Pass photographers pics taken during the races linked to my mydisneyexperience account?

It was soooo easy to do for the W&D races; yet I'm stumped for the marathon weekend races.

The race guide gives the race codes but does not say exactly where you enter the codes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

As always you are awesome!

It should be done the exact same way as for the W&D codes. Just enter the Marathon Weekend-specific code. Maybe the codes aren't live in the system yet?

Yes, WDW or Premier AP.

It's exactly like Wine & Dine. The codes (in the race program) won't actually work until just after the races.

Well, we were able to enter the codes on some page prior to the W&D runs. I remember throughout the day if the W&D 10K and again on the day of the W&D 1/2 going to the my disney app on my iPhone and seeing more and more pics from each race of DW and myself.

Hopefully they let us enter the codes / bibs before the Marathon weekend races too

@DopeyBadger thank you! This is incredible, it must have been a lot of work. Looking forward to meeting you and the DIS'ers. 5K is one week from tomorrow morning!

I think my cousin Julie, who volunteers at the last water stop in Epcot for the marathon, would get a huge kick out of anyone that wants to say hello and thank her for volunteering. She and her coworkers have volunteered for many years at the marathon and other RD events. She ran her first half marathon this year and one of these days I will get her to run with me!

She told me once that she volunteered as someone that cheers you on and lost her voice for 3 days after. She's the best and I would just like her to realize how much we appreciate her and all the other volunteers. If you see her, tell her you are a friend of Missy's and give her a high five, hug or whatever. I know she would love it!!!!

Any distinguishing features that would help us ID Julie as we pass this particular water stop? I'm usually in a zoned out fog at that point in the race, but I'm more than willing to do so if I remember.

I used the "Handler" attachment. It's the 6" long handle. It's also allowed into the parks because it doesn't matter extend so it's not considered a selfie stick. But I got an extra battery as well. I can't remember the name of it. The thing was amazing, I had plenty of battery all day. If you send me a reminder PM I will check out the name when I get home tonight.

Hey @Keels! I know where one of my gift cards is going! :)

Wow! That is amazing, thanks for being our resident spreadsheet guru. :)

We have a 9:30 Captain's Grill ADR, so might miss some of you speedier folks (stop by later if you want!), but once we camp out, we should be there for a while with what is sure to be amusing signage :scratchin and [strikethrough]punch and pie[/strikethrough] Starbursts (for Peggy Sue) and Skittles for one last sugar rush. I'll try to put a DIS identifier on our signs, too. I'm actually really excited to spectate my first rD race! :cool1:

I would love to stop by Hurricane Hannah's, especially since we are staying at Yacht Club. That is our travel day and our flight times have already been changed once, so anything can happen. We are *supposed* to get in around 12:30 ish (thanks Delta, now my kids are missing another FULL day of school).
