can you make a reservation before your points have loaded into the account.
for example

I have 200 points. my point loading date is 12/1/14. I will be getting 200 more points. I am going to allow the first 200 points to bank. then would like to borrow the 12/1/15 loading 200 points to book a Christmas week for 3 or 4 rooms for friends or family 12/24-12/31. can I do this or does it not work this way??

The points "loaded" on 12/1/2014 are good for stays between 12/1/2014 and 11/30/2015. You could also borrow them to pay for a stay between 12/1/2013 and 11/30/2014.

The 2015 points are good for stays between 12/1/2015 and 11/30/2016. You could also borrow them to pay for a stay between 12/1/2014 and 11/30/2015.

If you choose, you may bank the 2014 points into the 2015 use year to pay for stays between 12/1/2015 and 11/30/2016.


All of your points are already "loaded" into your account. You just have to use the "correct" use year points to pay for your stay. Points have to be valid for your vacation dates.

You may call for the reservation at your home resort 11 months prior to check-in and 7 months prior if you want to stay at a non-home resort. Again, you just have to have points that will be valid for you vacation dates.

Perhaps you are aware but your post seemed to indicate that you believe points will bank automatically - which is not correct. You must initiate the banking or the points will simply expire. You may bank current points at any time once the UY has started up until 4 months prior to the end of the UY and you can bank multiple times should you wish - but you must do the banking either via a call with MS or via the website. For example - for a Dec UY it means that you could now bank any or all of your 2013 points into your 2014 UY and use them for a reservation beginning 12/1/14. You also would be able to borrow from your 2015 UY for a reservation that starts 12/1/14 or later. You have until July 31, 2014 to bank your Dec 2013 points into the next UY. After that date any points left in your 2013 UY will need to be used prior to Nov 30, 2014.

hey thanks all, that answers my question and I never thought of the second point...thanks alot
