Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

Did it give you shipping info on the website or in an e-mail? Yesterday my bands said "shipping soon" today it says they are "active". I guess they are coming soon? I never got an e-mail or pop-up but was able to customize our bands when I went to check it out after reading on Dis. We have 26 days until we are at POP.

My MB shipped the 19th but I didn't get the email til the 20th and they were here yesterday.
 
From what I've seen, the test is ending August 25, so I'm guessing you have to arrive prior to, or by that date to participate.

We are part of test arriving aug 24. It is letting me make FP+ ressies through my stay ending aug 31.

Sounds like non testers are getting hosed in August. Not only is it a very busy time, at least the first half, but they will also be dealing with a significantly large group of people that can take all the E-ticket FPs before they even enter the park. Unless Disney is not offering many E-ticket FP+s.

I haven't seen any testers say what they have chosen. If they are just testing the system, and you still get normal FP, they really should be limiting what's available, if not even offering some folks only the lesser rides, to get them to choose them. Otherwise, will the low end rides even get tested?

My son finished in selections this morning:
DHS two days...each day TSM, ToT, RnR
MK one day SPLM, SPM, PP
AK one day EE, KS, Dinosaur
EP one day Soarin', TT, Malestrom

He selected early evening or late afternoon FP times. The available FP's were all over the board. There were four options (after selecting the three attractions), then it was easy to change the times after that.

I have heard from 4/5 internet help desk specialists including a manager that he will receive a KTTW and can use FP- and FP+. They even quoted a FAQ document that has the question "Can I use standard FP and FP+ for this (august) test? Yes, guests can use both."

Do I believe that 100%? No. We'll see when he gets there.
 
my family doesn't want to do the FP+. I only have today to sign up. I think I'll call the support number, but have to run out right now. Has anyone asked the support/IT people if we are allowed to cancel the Magic Bands, FP+ if we don't like it after a day? I am afraid that my family will hate me, if I order these and they don't turn out well for us (I waited a while and not sure if there are any good FP+ times left, also we like more than 3 FP a day.)

I called and was told you can cancel while you are there by just not selecting any FP+ selections. I was also told you can still use your KTTW cards if you don't like the Magic Bands (they are still issued for all guests even with MyMagic+).

I would customize and pick your times. That way if you like it you can use it and you'll have it ready to go. If you don't like it cancel it while you're there. I've been changing my times everyday since if opened up to me. You'll find plenty of time slots- remember it's just a test so not all the guests can eat up all the good time slots.

OK. I decided to go for it. Called the tech support number to verify that going to the WL first was not going to mess anything up. The tech support guy said my magic bands are already ordered and are grey. I guess the form that said customize your magic bands by july 23 should have said 'before july 23'. He said that they are shipping to the YC automatically even though I did nothing but link my YC reservation a few weeks ago. When I look on the 'MagicBands and Cards' web page and it says my shipping address. I have no idea if I will see these magic bands. I was on the phone for 2 hours with him. He tried so hard to change the colors, talking with lots of people on the other end. Nice guy. He didn't understand why they were ordered and shipped to the YC, but he talked with someone else that said as long as test-people link their test-hotel-reservation, they will have grey magicBands sent to the hotel so they can get them at check-in. I hope mine actually get to the YC and I just wish they weren't ugly grey :sad1:
 


Does anybody know the exact dates of the test window? We are staying at the YC, but not until the end of August. I called and they said that the test will end on 8/25. Does anyone have any info that would support this or has anyone with a post 8/25 check-in date been able to get magic bands? Just trying to make sure the info that they gave me is correct--thanks!
 
So sad we go next week staying at our home BLT and just miss the windows . This week and the week after for testing ! We are hoping for some pixie dust when we arrive!

They can't change the colors on there end. I learned that when my dd's weren't linked. They were going to get gray she tried to change it for me on her end and couldn't. So I was able to go in and change it on my end before the customize deadline. She did verify that she saw the change. I did receive the right color.

It's not that ugly of a gray so don't worry about it.
 
We ordered our on Monday and got them yesterday.

My 2 year old, with no ticket, has the orange band. Didn't have any problems ordering them or getting the attractions we wanted. Looking forward to using this service in about 3 weeks.
 
I don't know if anyone has said this yet but the bands also have your name written inside the band. Nice if two kids get the same color!
 
I have a reservation # but no tickets yet Is this why it is not letting me customize bands or select fast passes?

Same problem here...I just got off with Disney IT and they told me since I have an AP voucher that I would not be able to link my tickets with My Disney Exp. and therefore could not customize the magic bands. If I wanted them they would give us the gray ones when we arrive at AKL. I would think this would discourage first time AP buyers from buying them if they don't fix that technological kink in the system.

IF you customize them...if you get them at the resort without having customized them at least 5 days out, they'll all be gray, and no names...

I was told that they will have the names. I tried to customize them 10 days out (the deadline on my email/letter) and they were already ordered in grey. The CM told me that they will definitely have names on them so we can use the correct ones (my DH has 7-day hoppers, while we all have 10-day hoppers) so we don't want to get them confused. I hope they will have names on them. :confused3

That may happen if you have at least linked your resort reservation to DMX, and maybe if all the people on the reservation are managed or linked as well.

The original parameters said that you can customize color and name 10 days out to get them shipped to home, and 5-9 days shipped to resort. Within 5 days no customization.

My tix are from UCT and I was told to bring the tix with and the front desk with link them - not to do it online. So now I cannot reserve any FP ahead of time...hoping that I will have some availability once we get there.

What a mess. I will say, not a fan of this already. Love the concept, hate the execution..

I was able to link my UT tickets on-line. The tech support guy told me to pick the older ticket option, and then select 'ticket with id'. then I added the 17-digit (i think) ticket and it came back with the correct ticket (ie. 10 day hopper with fun) so I know it got it right.

I wonder if I can call back today and try and get the color/name on them since this is 9 days out. They said they are shipping them to the resort...but I don't know if they really are. 10 days out I couldn't customize on-line, but I linked my UT tickets yesterday (10 days out). I have no idea why but there does seem a lot of confusion about everything. I guess it will all work out, but the lack of consistent knowledge and confusion have me concerned about other bugs/issues we all might run into when we all get there.
