Lunch In Nassau - Ship or Shore?

For those who venture off the ship in Nassau, do you make every effort to be back on the ship to eat lunch then venture out again? Or is there any eating areas that would be worth spending the money on.

We are three adults with no real plans in mind except that we want to try our luck at the Casino and then thought we'd roam close to there until lunch time and then head back to the ship for lunch (save money?) then venture out again to see the shops and straw market. Are we silly to be going back to the ship for lunch?

Just wondering what others do when in port.

For Nassau, most of the stuff to do is very close to the ship anyway, so we just head back and grab the lunch we've already paid for.

For those who prefer to eat on the island, there are many places to eat within walking distance of the ship, many of them between the ship and the straw market.

Like the PP, we prefer to eat the lunch that we've already paid for, but if we were far away from the ship and hungry, we'd eat wherever we were. So if you're going to the casino and you aren't done gambling and it's lunch-time, stay a while longer and eat where you are. But if you are done, then go back to the ship, have a nice lunch, and there will still be time to shop.

I went back to the ship after my morning excursion so I could join my mom for lunch. I ended up staying on the ship due to the nasty weather outside.

Only thing I have to add is that as far as I could tell, there were no conch fritters available on the ship, so I ate in Nassau and greatly enjoyed them.

We intentionally booked our shopping and excursion so that we could go back to the ship for lunch. It worked well for us. There wasn't anything in town that was appealing and the food and drinks at Atlantis were expensive. We tried a Bahama Mama there and the Disney version of this drink was much better and less expensive.

Where did you eat at? Does anyone have any "hidden gems" that we could eat lunch at while in Nassau?

Actually we ate the beach-side bar & grill at the Hilton, as we were using their beach anyway for the day, it was very convenient.

I would have also liked to try a restaurant called: Conch Fritters Bar & Grill, which is located directly across the street from the Hilton (all within walking distance to the ship, just passed the straw market).
