Lots of Windsor Hills, no Windsor Palms - problem?

I see lots of discussion here about Windsor Hills rental properties, but almost none about Windsor Palms. We're likely staying at Palms this summer and wanted to find out if there is a problem there or some other reason it isn't mentioned much?

I know a lot of people have stayed there and liked it just fine. However I have heard that some complain of a sewage type smell if they situated toward the back half of the resort. ( I dont recall the explanation for this. Maybe search Windsor Palms and smell on here.)

I have not personally stayed at Windsor Palms but I chose WH because it was a newer resort and in my opinion had nicer grounds.

But I am sure I do recall seeing posts on here were people did stay at WP and were happy. Maybe someone on here can explain the bit about the smell.

Aha.. Found the link here for ya. I wouldnt worry though. I am sure odds are you wont have any issues. Maybe they reolved the smell by now? There is a post by the site manager on I think the 3rd page.

No problem---just Windsor Hills is one of the "DIS darlings" at the moment. It's a *little* closer, the common amenities are a *little* nicer, but it's a little more expensive.

Other current DIS Darlings include Bonnet Creek. Vistana used to be a DIS Darling, fell out of favor for a while, but seems to be making a comeback. Everything is cyclical, I guess.

No one ever comments about where we stay: Grand Palms. It's a smaller condo development a little farther out from WDW. For $50-65 a night, we'll drive an extra mile or two! I've read good things here about Windsor Palms, as well as on Trip Advisor.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Windsor Palms at all. We were there in September.

The community is nice and compact, well kept and has great amenities. Its a short drive to WDW, local stores and restaurants.

1 difference that made us choose WH over WP was H has elevator in the condo buildings P does not.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and thought it was fine. Didn't smell any of the stink either..

Good to hear. We have reservations in a townhome there in June. It looks nice and the price was significantly less than comparables in WH. I figured the (slightly) closer proximity and (slightly) newer homes wouldn't make that much of a difference to our family.

Thanks for the input. It's nice to hear the reassurance from DISers. I had checked TripAdvisor and didn't see significant issues, but..

If you have stayed there, can you tell me what restaurants are nearby? Will begin to collect gift cards for our stay.

In the local area (192/Formosa Gardens intersection) Outback, Red Lobster, CiCi's Pizza, TGI Fridays, Giordano's, Cracker Barrel, subway, Dairy Queen

192 just a bit further away
IHOP, Perkins, Key W Cools, Ponderosa, Chick a fila, McDonalds

near the SuperTarget at Rolling Oaks Commons:
Longhorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden,

further away (near 192/27 junction) - 10-15 mins drive
Chilli's (on 27N)
Dennys (on 192)

There are loads more restaurants, I just don't have the whole list memorized.
