LONG delays at the Entrance Gates

I guess it is hard to understand unless you get stuck in a similar situation.

It's not hard to understand. I think people don't get why someone is so upset over it. I know I don't get it. We have AP's and wait in line sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow. That's the way it works.

So yes we've been "stuck" but apparently we don't see it the same way because its vacation, why get upset over something you cannot control?
Situations are about how YOU react to them, take it in stride and look forward to riding something fun, talk about where you're gonna go first, eat, etc. in other words, get over it because it's not gonna change anytime soon, Disney is not going to change it, and the poor CM's don't deserve a complaint for doing their job correctly.

Maybe it has something to do with what we are use to. I'm from California and I'm use to waiting in line. Heck I regularly wait more than 15 minutes for my coffee. I have relatives in Oklahoma that hate California because of all the people. I find Oklahoma boring. Everyone is different and has different opinions.
So ... to each their own. Just make the best of it... you are at Disneyland. :)

I have a question, did you not wait 15 minutes for a ride? for food? I mean it's Disneyland, you are going to wait in line and honestly 15 minutes isn't that bad. I've waited in longer lines for entering the park.

I guess I'm used to waiting in long lines though because it's rather frequent in California I suppose.

I hope you enjoyed your trip otherwise.

This 100%.
If you are there before the park opens, it could take a while to get through the gates depending on what was going on in front of you. The photos are checked and taken before the guest gets to the ticket scanner. The signature may take a minute. If you want to get there at opening at wait less than 5 minutes, you better be one of the first people in line then.
15 minutes is not long at all. There were reports about 6 months ago where it took folks 45 minutes of their MM to get through the gates.

I was there for this! We lost all of our EE. It was after opening before we even got in line for a ride.

Is there a separate entry for guests with dining reservations at the Minnie & Friends breakfast? If so, standing in the Esplanade and facing Disneyland, is it on the far left or far right?

If I have a Minnie & Friends breakfast reservation at 7:10am, and I also have a 7am Magic Morning credit on my 3-day pass, which entry line will usually be faster? One of the main EMH/Magic Morning lines or the dining line?

Yes. The first gate on the far left is for Minnie and Friends. This line will typically be faster.

Thanks!

It doesn't apply to me as I can enter either line, but just wondering, how does DL police people from making Minnie & Friends reservations as a way to sneak into the Magic Morning?

At some point, guests will be required to provide Credit Card info for reservations...that would deter people from taking advantage, but as far as I understand, they do not have this problem regularly at Minnie and Friends. For the most part, people who go to DL are on the up and up...and barely even understand what MM is, let alone how to possibly abuse the system.

Awesome, good to know! We have an 8:10am reservation for Minnie and Friends on a Wednesday (so a non-MM day) and were wondering about this.

8:10am, if that's the earliest reservation possible, tells you there is some sort of Early Entry going on that day. Most likely EMH for on-site guests.

No, there is no EMH in DL on Wednesday. Early entry for hotel guests is at DCA that day. 8:10 AM is the earliest reservation they will assign for Minnie and Friends for a day when the park opens at 8 AM and there is no early entry.

I was under the impression that anyone with a reservation during EMH/MM will be escorted to The Plaza Inn and "handed off" to the hostess there to check you in. If it were as simple as being let in to the park, there would be a ton of abuse by people without MM/EMH. Sadly, there are plenty who are not on the up and up who go to DL.

My mistake. You are right. Having a earliest dining ressie time at Minnie & Friends that ends in :10 no longer means there is some sort of early entry.

Last year (up through at least January 2013), if DL opened at 9am without early entry, they would open up Main Street USA at 8:30am, and you could get an 8:40am dining reservation. But now, the earliest dining time is 9:10am. They've either stopped letting people on main street 30 minutes before the rides open, stopped opening the Minnie & Friends Breakfast during those 30 minutes, or both.

No. We have gone to Minnie's during early entry when we did not have early entry privileges as we had APs. We went to gate 1. A CM standing outside the gate asked for our name and checked us off on a paper list. When 7 AM came, we were scanned in through the entrance turnstile and free from there. We went to Minnie's, of course.

I wonder if they did change the first ressie time. Like you said, before it was 50 minutes prior to opening on an EMH/MM day and 20 minutes prior on a non EMH/MM day.

This has been our experience with the entrance procedure as well.

There were reports about 6 months ago where it took folks 45 minutes of their MM to get through the gates.

This is STILL happening. We arrived for EE about 20 minutes early each morning. We were about 20 people deep in line and each time it took 15-20 to get through the gate.

Once, a CM's iphone wasn't working. Once a 2 year old REFUSED to have their picture taken. After standing there watching this for over 5 minutes, my family switched lines and we still got through before the kid had his photo taken.

I made a comment every morning and put it on my survey when I got home.

It was a frustrating way to start the morning to be honest. There must be a better way Disney!

Why would a 2 yr old have their picture taken? They don't have a ticket.
