Hi! We have a 1993 Suburban with 211,??? miles on it. Runs great. My take on cars is that if you've got a good one you should drive it until it's dead. Have you seen what new SUVs cost??? We would never be able to get a new one if we wanted to!!

I didn't answer the poll because the answer depends on which car I'm talking about.

We try to keep a relatively newish vehicle (van) for toting the kids around and for vacations. We usually buy Chrysler products because we can't afford the Honda I would prefer. They are usually worn out at about seven years.

The cars I drive to work .... I keep until they won't go any more. I still regret giving up my 1986 Subaru GL with 239,000 miles on it. It got great gas mileage. I traded it for an Outback that was 10 years newer and had only 80,000 miles on it, but I still think I made the wrong decision.

My current car is a 2000 Ford Focus. I bought it brand new. I love this car and will drive it until it won't make it out of the drive way.

This is my second new car, my first was a 1989 Ford Escort and I wish I would have kept it a few more years.

I love the Focus, but I could have gotten a good 3 - 5 more years out of the Escort. I had the Escort for 10 years. That is the minimum I would keep a car, I am planning on keeping the Focus longer than that.

However, if you get to a point where the repairs are more then a monthly car note, then I think it is time to go for a new car.

My next door neighbor leases his cars and has a new one in his driveway every three years. However, that means he always has a car payment.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Still going strong with 159,000 miles on it. Won't be upgrading for at least another year unless DH gets a MAJOR raise (I hate car payments). Then again, DH will still be keeping the Jeep for himself.

:thumbsup2 were a Grand Prix family--I just gave away my 1993 to my mechanic.....his dd turned 16 ! he put 800.00 worth of parts not including labor....dh is still driving his 93 grand prix, I got a "new" 2000 which I hope to drive till the wheels fall off..... :rotfl2: it's a sweet ride with leather seats and a seat warmer... :yay: :moped: I'll be driving that for as long as it'll get me down the road!
