I booked my airline tickets a few weeks ago and hoped that an early return would pop-up but with fuel rates I just don't see that happening. In fact I check everyday and the tickets that I bought for $245 a few weeks back are now $600 so I am just going to have to keep what I bought. The departure from Houston (Hobby) is at 7pm. Any ideas what I can do from the time I get off the ship until then? Are there any hotels in that area that do a day rate?

Do you have a rental car?

No rental car, but that might be an option instead of renting a hotel room for the day. I already have my transportation from the port to HOU, so I could reserve a car for the day when we get dropped off. If you have an idea on what to do for the day that would keep the kids entertained and not drain my wallet in the process that would be great.

    Kemah boardwalk is fun
    Johnson space center
Seawolf park is kind of neat.

Just a couple of quick thoughts.

The Kemah boardwalk, the aquarium downtown, the Galleria mall (7th largest mall in America) or Moody Gardens.

We rented a car from Enterprise in Galveston and dropped it off at the airport the next morning. We spent the day we got off the ship at Kemah Boardwalk. It kept all 4 kids happy! We stayed until shortly after 3:00 and then headed to our hotel in Houston. Check their website for coupons - when we were there 2 weeks ago, they had a wintertime blues coupon which was buy one all day pass, get a second for 5.00.

    Have fun!
