Obviously it depends on the size of your laptop, but the safe won't be big enough most most laptops. That said, I've taken my laptop on a cruise before and just left it in my bag in the room, no one ever touched it. If you need a little additional piece of mind you could keep it in your closet under a pile of clothes or something.
A few years ago I bought a netbook for this exact reason, emptying memory cards full of pictures. On that cruise the netbook barely fit in the safe on a carnival ship, so I ended up just leaving it in the bag as well.
, but was worried about the same thing so took several 16GB cards with me. I had 2 cameras going and between them, have over 1700 pictures/videos. I just did a quick look at one camera has 1,167 pictures and 33 videos. Some of my videos are long too (I recorded the whole Pirates in the Carribean show).
