Kid Friendly Vegas Hotel??

I stayed at Circus Circus two years ago and we stayed in the tower and it was fine. Very clean and neat. It wasn't dirty.

The area by the indoor amusement park seemed newer.

I don't think it is as bad as other's have said. Our room was actually larger than the one we had at the Luxor.

The area isn't as nice as it is down the strip, but I think they are building it up.

There is also a Wet-N-Wild a couple of blocks away.

Not as classy as other casinos, but there is a lot for kids to do between the amusement park and the midway.

We got a great rate at the luxor a few weeks ago. Really liked it. There is a family pool, an IMAX theater, some motion simulator rides and an arcade so there is plenty for kids. You are a tram ride away from excalibur and can walk to NYNY and MGM.

Just stayed a few months ago at Monte Carlo also with all 4 of our kids. It was very kid friendly. We have stayed at many hotels on the Strip and like this one the best if we are with the kids. They also have a food court that make dining pretty easy. Now if you are ever going without kids, we like Mandalay Bay and paying the $50 extra(above the regular room rate for a Honeymoon Suite. Very nice jacuzzi tub in the bathroom with plenty of room for two :earseek: Amy:teeth:

A few things to keep in mind if you are considering the Excalibur, The rooms are not furnished or equipped as nice as most of the other big casinos on the strip. (If that is important to you.) Also, from what I have read, they don't have bathtubs, only showers.

Also the Mandalay Group who owns the Excalibur has been trying to make it a little less kid oriented lately and has removed the fire breathing dragon they had when they opened. They also now have a male strip review there now called Thunder From Down Under. They obviously don't parade around the hotel, but it is just something to keep in mind.

You can get really cheap rates for NICE Vegas hotels through Priceline. When DH and I took a trip to Vegas, I was pricing out the Venetian by watching the biddingfortravel.com boards. It was reliably coming up for $79/night 2 weeks out. That looked like a nice hotel when we were there...there were shops and boat rides inside. I think that some of the other hotels mentioned on this thread were also coming up on Priceline...check the biddingfortravel Vegas hotel board for bidding strategy for a specific hotel.

Just wanted to say Circus Circus like other said is a total dump. One of the most sleezy hotels in vegas. Supposedly its the next to be torn down. We can only hope.

For just one night, I would stay at the Mirage, fabulous interior including great wall size aquariums, an exploding volcano outside, across the street from the venetian (which you have to just walk into and see the paintings) and a easy walk to the bellagio fountains. The good thing about this plan is all of these things are at night, so it doesen't matter if you check in late.

Gotta agree with Judy, and she knows her stuff :)

I visit Las Vegas twice a year (second favorite destination next to WDW... I guess my username gives it away, huh?)

Anyway, although Vegas has recently gone away from the new "family-friendly" destination (due to debacles like MGM's theme park, huge losses of revenue, etc.), there are still some hotels that have activities for kids.

As was previously mentioned, Circus Circus is probably the best bet (pardon the pun), due to its indoor theme park. However, I have to agree about it not being the nicest of hotels in the City. NYNY also has a nice arcade floor and roller coaster.

I also really like Luxor for families. They have a floor with a number of shows and attractions, as well as an arcade, "put your face on a magazine", karaoke booth, etc.

And don't forget about the LV Hilton and the Star Trek Experience. I would, however, be sure to stay away from the Downtoan hotels. Definitely not for the youngsters.

Hope that helps ::yes::

I want to thank everyone for all the great advice. In addition to the reviews I was wondering if say we were to stay at the Luxor or the Excalibur before we get to DL would it "lessen" the impact of seeing Sleeping Beauty's castle for my 4yo. I worry that after the sheer size and impact of both going to Vegas and having previously been to WDW many times and having seen Cinderella's castle manytimes might jade her.... any thoughts???

I dont think your 4 yr old would be disappointed with SB castle after Excalibur. The atmosphere at each place is so different.
I too would pass on Circus Circus. We went with another couple a few years back and we stayed at the Luxor and they had booked a room at Circus Circus and when they got to their room they turned went back up front and asked for their money back. They said the room needed to be refurbished badly. Stains on the carpet and generally very worn looking. They were very unhappy. Then even more unhappy when they saw our nice room at the Luxor, lol.
We also went with my 2 oldest in 98 and stayed at Excalibur. We did like the resort. One thing I didnt like is you had to walk through the gaming area to get to the elevators to get to our room. If you so much as stopped to tie your shoe they were telling you to get out of the area--no kids allowed in the gaming area. So why make us walk through the area to get to the elevators??

We go to Vegas at least twice a year (we also live in SLC) and I have to say that Monte Carlo is our hotel of choice. We've stayed at pretty much all of them with the exception of Stratosphere and Cicrus Circus (which I agree is a dump) although going to see the Circus with the kids might be really fun for them.

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is awesome for families! It's like a really big Living Sea's aquarium (If you've been to the one at Gateway).

The Lion Habitat at MGM is great for the kids and staying at the Monte Carlo puts you closer to the more "kid friendly hotels" such as Luxor, Excalibur and NY NY.

I would caution you about the porn slappers though. They will target anyone on the street and I even saw a couple given to small children when we were there in October. They have naked women *but they do have stars in all of the needed places* and they are littered all over the street.

Also another thought if you aren't really that keen on staying in Vegas but want to be about 1/2 way to DL is Mesquite. It's about an hour away from Vegas but it's usually cheaper and less congested with no porn slappers and such.

Anyway feel free to PM me if you want any more information. I think in the last 3 years we've been to Vegas about 9 times.

We went to Las Vegas two years ago with our two young children. We stayed at the Flamingo which I highly recommend. Rates are usually very low, and the hotel has an excellent location. The grounds are beautiful with lots of animals (including a penguin habitat), and the pools are great for children. The rooms in the hotel are very large, and you can access your room without having to walk through the casino. This was a huge plus for us. IMO the Flamingo is much nicer than Excalibur (I've stayed in both).
