    Thursday 15th November

We were both awake early again today; we just can’t seem to get onto Florida time this trip.
We had some fresh fruit for breakfast and then drove up to the everglades, to Coopertown Airboats.

We loved the airboat ride. It feels like you’re sliding across the water.

It quite fast and the guide was very informative, giving us the history of the Everglades and pointing out the wildlife as we came across it.

We even got to meet Big Momma.

Afterwards we both held a baby gator.

They have a tiny café on site and we thought we’d try the gator tail. We thought it tastes a bit like chicken but slightly chewier. Nice, and we’d eat it again.

The road to Coopertown is being raised and there were long stretches of road works being controlled by men with stop /go boards, except in the states they say stop and slow.

We made our way back to Homestead. What’s in homestead? Walmart, of course!
Theresa topped up her crafting stuff and I picked up a few fishing lures. We also brought a rather large steak and some sweet potato mash.

I cooked it on the BBQ when we got back to the resort and we ate it on the veranda and followed it with a couple of pieces of cheesecake.

I went and did a bit more fishing while Theresa got a few more sunset pictures.

Sounds like another fantastic day. I have to share this with Graham. The Everglades are on his bucket list. I am too worried about the various wildlife including the mosquitoes, but I am hoping that if DCL keeps running short cruises out of Miami, I can go on one of those while Graham explores the Everglades.

    Hi Corinna

We didn't have a problem with mosquitoes on the airboat tour at all. Although they were a major problem while we were in the Keys.

Another great day. We really enjoyed the airboat ride we took in teh Everglades too. Your description of gator pretty much matched ours - like chewy chicken :thumbsup2 Nice though :)

I love the airboats .... I particularly love DH freaking out at the alligators. It just looks so peaceful.
