Just back from a great 10 day vacation at the world. We had some hits and misses. WARNING!!! this review has 1 cricitism. I know some folks do not like reading any thing negative about wdw (you usually get labelled as a whiner or some other rot but hey I call it as I see it :confused3) so you can stop after the happy stuff. :goodvibes

Best unexpected meal Wolfgang Puck cafe at DTD. Man , this was a good meal. I hadn't heard much about this restaurant but every one should try it. We had the asian spring rolls, Teriakyi beef satay, asian bbq ribs, macadian crusted chicken and the kids had the flatbread pizza. by the end of the meal every one was eating off of every one else's plate. Every plate was flavorful, excellently prepared. We wanted to go back the next day.

runners up Boma breakfast. Some old standbys and traditional africian fare. Kids loved the African oatmeal and the Jungle juice was delicious.

Turf club bar and grill at Saratoga springs.
Delicious dinner. The pork tendoloin was yummy (pricey) and my dh had some mint pork chops that he wouldn't share. :rolleyes1

Most disappointing: Le Cellier. This was the 2nd time we tried this restaurant. Since it gets glowing reviews here I thought maybe the first bad meal was a fluke. We didn't have a "bad" meal per se, it was simply boring and unflavorable. I had the mushroom filet, which had absolutely no taste. How is that possible? It wasn't tough but I could have been chewing tofu. My dh had the prime rib and had to cover it with horse radish sauce just to give it a little flavor.

Worth only doing once
The wishes dessert party. Did this on Tuesday 8/11. We walked up and was able to snag a seat. The desserts were ok, pretty tasty but the set up stinks. First you are on the lower level of the Nooodle station seating area. The tables are packed together so every time you got up to get some dessert you literally had to squeeeeeze past tightly arranged chairs. Next, when wishes starts the MK usually dims the lights but the lights where you are, are kept on. definitely kills the mood. Lastly, could disney have made the desserts any smaller. be warned you will need a lot of servings to enjoy. I'll post pictures later.
It was interesting and I'm glad I did it, but I think I would have gotten just as good desserts from main street bakery for a lot less money and enjoyed wishes more in the park, in the dark.

Did Boma breakfast in Feb, thought it was fabulous; loved the French toast, frunch and roasted tomatoes. Just booked it again for next month.

It is fine to have your own opinion of LeCellier. We hated the food we got from Peco Bills in 2007, lots love it but we definitely are not fans.

Hi Eliza!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the Boma breakfast. We have ADR'S for there and we can't wait to try it.
I had tried to get ressie's for Le Cellier but was unsuccesful. Sorry you didn't have a good experience there. I have never eaten there but wanted to try it. I may still try it for myself in the future but I don't feel so bad now about not having any for this trip.
Thanks!

You didn't happen to take any food photos of the Beef Satay, did you?? I'm missing that photo from my food journal!! Same with the Pumpkin ravioli...don't know what happened...I must have been hungry and forgot to take pics!!

I loved Wolfgang Puck's Cafe. We ate there twice during my last trip, little to no wait each time and the service and food was wonderful!!

I'll have to go to Boma for breakfast- I keep reading great reviews. We always go there for dinner.

Sorry your experience at LeCellier wasn't good ... however, it was one of the best meals we've ever had at WDW! Also loved Wolfgang Puck in DTD ... did lunch there, and it was very good. We will be doing the dessert buffet at MK this coming up week, and good or bad, I am sure we will enjoy it. Just something a little special to add to our trip. Eating at Boma, O Hana, and Coral Reef for the first time this trip! So looking forward to it!

Thanks for your review. We love Boma breakfast too, especially the juice (I think my husband had 5 glasses of that juice).
I'm glad you shared your experience of LeCellier, we have never been there but there is so much hype of the restaurant and I keep thinking I'm missing out on a great restaurant but my husband has never had any desire to eat there but I want to go but I would hate it if he had a bad meal and then tell me I told you so.

I am sorry to hear your Le Cellier expierence wasn't good. We all loved it in June, but then I've heard it is a hit or miss... I also think that a bad review should be said. Puts us all on our toes.
I am surprised that they didn't at least dim the lights a little for the Wishes showing. To me that would be a deal breaker, well that, and the cramped tables.

Thanks for sharing! :)

It is GOOD for everyone to hear opinions!
Ironically, we had the exact OPPOSITE experience as you (tho it was 2 years ago).
Le Cellier was the meal the whole family (ages 5-62) insisted we eat at again, we felt the meal was so good. My steak was OK, but MOM LOVED it, so I switched for her salmon & risotto & it was FABULOUS (big disappointment the next night at Narcoosees when the risotto was not so good...)
DH & I ate at WPs for dinner (this is NOT the fast food place, which we enjoyed thoroughly). We found the restaurant noisy and the food unmemorable. Would I say DON'T eat there...no, it wasn't bad, but with all the choices to eat at Disney, we won't be back this trip!
Thanks again for your thoughts!

thanks for sharing. I want to try lecellier but only because of all the hype...that being said some love it some not so much. as for wp we also would not go back. we went to two ts a day for 9 days and it was the only one i wouldn;t return to. we were all very tired and not very hungry when we went in though. it was way past kids bedtime and we ended up with colds and headachesso it may have been the night itself BUT services was painfully SLOW and it was SO LOUD! I was willing to give it another shot do to above but DH said no way the dessert at wp was amazing best we had on property

A few years ago Le Cellier was really great. I think it's gone downhill lately. It's forever to get seated, always 20-30 minutes past your ADR time. The tables are so crammed together that it's not really a relaxing place for a meal. And the food is average, good but not worth agonizing over to get an ADR.

Thanks for your reviews!

I can't wait to see your pics of the Wishes dessert party. It sounds like a neat thing to do, but I have seen more negative posts than posititve posts. Do you think it is worth booking in advance, or more of a walk and and see if we can get it kind of thing?:confused3

I have one of the pumpkin ravioli, you're welcome to use it for your journal if you'd like.

Sorry it's kind of small, I know I still have the memory card it's on, and I'd upload it again so it'd be bigger, but that would require me to a) find said memory card, and b) find cord to hook up camera to computer.

I've seen some posters get slammed for their opinions, for some reason I've never been on the receiving end of negative comments for my opinions, but others seem to get ripped apart, it makes no sense to me either. :confused3

Anyway, thanks for your reviews. I'd like to try the Wishes dessert buffet, but that's more to have some of those yummy looking desserts I've seen pictures of from various posters then actually having a prime viewing location for Wishes. I don't think the small size of the desserts would bother me either, it would just give me an excuse to try more. :rotfl:

I'm sorry you didn't like Le Cellier, but I agree that it may be overhyped. I like it, but the steaks at the signature restauants are better. It is a really good value on the DDP though, and I love the cheddar cheese soup especially.

Turf Club and Boma breakfast are both on my "to try" list, but as I've said in other threads, the list of restaurants I want to eat at every trip just gets longer, not shorter. :rolleyes1

I would book in advance Maxie, we did a walk up and I felt so sorry for the frazzled cm. Since there is not a cash register in that area every time a walkup guest came she had to escort the guest up to the noodle station, break in the line and have the noodle station cashier ring the sale. very time consuming. If you make reservations you avoid all that. All you have to do is check in, get your wrist band and table section.

The desserts themselves are very good..;) I'm hoping that when they decide to make it permanent they will work out the bugs on the "set up". The only thing I didn't like was how tightly the arranged the tables. If you are in a table towards the "back" you really do spend your evening "apologizing" when squeezing past the other guest. We (my table and a few other tables) ended up doing an impromptu table shuffle to give every one a little more space. ;)

Thanks for your reviews. I always appreciate people being honest about their reviews rather than everything being "just perfect."

Thank you! Thank you!!:worship::yay:

No problem with the photo size...I will make it work.

Gosh, looking at that pic makes me want to have them for dinner...RIGHT NOW! LOL
Guess I can wait til November....

I am glad to read honest reviews, positive or negative. If the only thing anyone ever said about a Disney restaurant was that it was wonderful, then what would be the point of reading them?

I've read good things about Le C, and also read that it is over-rated. I haven't ever had a chance to try it myself, was unable to get ressies for upcoming trip, so I still won't have the chance to form my own opinion!

I was also waiting for them to extend the Wishes party to Sept, and called when they did, but my night was already sold out. Thanks to your review, now I don't feel too disappointed!
