I have been trolling the internet looking for all information I can on Disney Cruises as this will be our first cruise EVER! I came across this wonderful treasure trove of information and noticed a Meet had not been set up for our cruise. So, even though I am a newbie, I guess I can start it and hope some of you will join and tell us what in the world to do.

I have been reading all the excursions offered and looking at all the options with Disney and outside of Disney.
Trying to find a hotel for the night before in Vancouver - well I found one - it is the price I have problems with - waiting for the dates to be open to start looking for a deal. The hard part is finding airfare - can't decide if I want to fly into Seattle or fly into Vancouver. How is your planning coming?

How exciting. Yes, I have read a lot of the Vancouver thread too. I am kind of waiting for several of this years trips to come back and report to see if anything has changed. Since Disney's Alaskan voyages are still fairly new, I am expecting there to be at least a few changes and new ideas.

I think we will fly into Vancouver. Not a 100% yet. We are planning to go two days early. I would like a full day in Vancouver before we board. Plus, my Godparents are avid cruisers and their first Alaskan cruise, the airline lost the luggage and it was delivered when they got to Ketchikan. This was not on Disney and the airline was to blame as they were rerouted because they missed a connection due to weather. So technically the bags went on the right plane, they just weren't on it and by the time the airline got it all straight, they had sailed. They did get some on-board credit to buy some essentials and the first night was formal dining so the cruiseline comped their tuxes. Not a bad deal and since it was two guys, my Godfather and his youngest son. Long story sort, I am going a day earlier just in case.

Yes, I have seen those hotel prices too. I am not sure I want my two DS's (5 & 3) staying at such a hotel. I don't want my first purchase to be a lamp. I am tempted to stay at a hotel that has shuttle service with either DCL or the hotel. I am pretty sure we will use the DCL shuttle from the boat back to the airport. Not sure if DCL does this or not but I think you put your bags outside your room the night before you leave and the porters pick it up load it in the shuttles and the next time you see your bag is at the airport. With 2 little ones, this could save a lot of hassle.

Excursion-wise we are looking at the three port package for younger families. I would kind of like to stay with DIS's packages but we are looking at others through Gray Line. I am sure that we will probably have to build nap time into the equation sometime so a morning activity and then back on the boat maybe the best way to go.

The rest of the planning is going really well. We found Columbia jackets and fleece on sale for the boys and my DW and got them at 50% off so we snatched them up in anticipation. We also purchased some of materials to make our FE. We have some friends who are Castaway Clubbers and have filled us in one some other ideas too. They don't do the FEs though. I told him we were making a FE and he said, "You have been on DISboard!" He said this is "The Place" to find out information.

There is a good size group of us on deck 6. Dh and I will be taking our 3rd dcl cruise with the kids, it will be my and dh's parents' 2nd and then our bff's from when we were first married and the parents and brother of the wife of that couple will also be going with us. 6 cabins and 21 people total. My il's may cancel, we'll have to see as it gets closer.
