Split stay for us (first time!) with the first portion at POR followed by 3 nights (June 21-24) at AKL. Summer can't get here quick enough!

I decided to pop in on this thread. We have a stay at Animal Kingdom Jambo House this May, I am super excited about it. We stayed there last year for one night to check it out and loved it. I am glad we have a longer stay this time. I’m hoping we can actually use the pools this time since when we went in January it was much too cold to do so.


A few questions if anyone can help:


My husband and I are going with our 4 year old daughter. I’ve been wanting to try Jiko but wasn’t sure it would be good for a 4 year old since it seems like an upscale restaurant and my daughter isn’t great at sitting quietly for long periods of time. Thoughts on if this restaurant would be ok for a younger child? We did book Sanaa and Boma also.


Also regarding the new Bush Camp for Kids, what age is this for/recommended for? It sounds fun but also sounds like it might be aimed at slightly older children. Thanks!

I have a silly question, do the refillable mug stations have cherry coke in them. We are from Australia and cannot get it here unless we buy overpriced imported stuff. It's the only request my 15 yr old son has made

Only you can decide if your daughter will do okay at the restaurant. FWIW, Jiko doesn't feel any more upscale to me than Sanaa. If you are that concerned, how about offering her a couple of hours at Simba's? Then you and your husband can enjoy a quiet dinner alone -- and your daughter won't be very far away and will be having fun all her own. She may not even want to leave when you go to get her so you and DH could get nightcap at Victoria Falls!

The regular refillable mug stations do not. But, if AKL has added the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines in the food court since I last stayed here they would. Otherwise - there will be lots of opportunities for your son to get cherry coke - there is a spot in Epcot (Club Cool) where you can sample Coke products from all over the world. A new coca-cola rooftop restaurant in Disney Springs that serves it. Also many restaurants have fountain cherry Coke (50's Prime Time, beaches and Cream Soda Shop). The "real" cherry Coke poured from a fountain with cherry syrup is so much better than the canned or bottled variety! Cherry Coke products are not carried everywhere here in Canada but we can find it sometimes or bring it back when we cross-border shop

I thought about this, but a few months ago I had her go to the kids club at Aulani for about 3-4 hours and then she complained to me that I left her there too long I think we will probably just do Sanaa this time, and then Jiko next time. It will be an excuse to go to back to AKL

Many thanks, I know when we last went in 2009 cherry coke was in the mug station at POR, so was hoping it was still around in the stations. We had cherry coke in the UK but for some reason it's just not here in Australia. Maybe I'll just add a few cartons of it to our garden grocer order
