This is a family-style meal. All the food is brought out either between acts or as part of an act during the stage show.

We began with salad and cornbread. I don't think I took a picture of the cornbread. They were both very good.

OH, WAIT!!! Look behind Jack (he was being a cowboy or he was cold, I'm not sure) - cornbread!

DANGER! DANGER! DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT ORDER THE SANGRIA! yuck!!! (and, hey look! more cornbread!)

Rhonda's plate is to the left with the ribs and chicken. Mine is at the bottom - beans, corn, chicken with the skin eaten off, and ribs.

Dessert is strawberry shortcake. I just must have been having an off night - I didn't like anything but the cornbread and the salad... The rest of the group seemed to enjoy the meal...

The show, however, leaves me giggling for weeks!!! I just love this show!

Can someone tell me what the Tonga Toast is comprised of? Is it like stuffed french toast? Because I L-O-V-E stuffed fr. toast and the TT looks very yummy. Dh and I are staying at AKL for the first time in Oct for the F&W festival.

Hi rlduvall I've never met another Rhonda Lee before.


mom2cookies A Tonga Toast is a very thick slice of sour dough bread, stuffed with bananananana's (sorry, got carried away with the ana's), deep fried then covered with cinnamon suger. I am in heaven with every bite.

The tray with 2 glasses of frunch and a glass of pineapple juice. The fruch is a mixture of a bunch of juices - it was dee-lish!!!

Jack got a huge kick out of the Jack-sized jars of ketchup and jelly:

Sandy and I both got the Safari Breakfast:

Rhonda and Ruth both got the cheese omelets:

For room service food, I was very impressed! Hot and good!!!

We had an arguement at the table over what those brown strings were... we finally asked the waiter - who had to ask the chef - they were fried sweet potato.

Rhonda ordered prime rib:

DESSERT TIME!!!

Ruth got the chocolate "mousse":

Sandy and Rhonda ordered the creme brule - which is normally 1/2 vanilla bean and 1/2 maple. They were out of maple, so they got all vanilla bean.

I went with a new item on the menu: Cherry Shortcake - cherry-almond cake topped with housemade lavender ice cream and almond brittle I LOVED IT!!! Rhonda did not.

BREAKFAST HERE WAS EXCELLENT - AND A GREAT USE OF THE DINING PLAN. FOR 1 COUNTER SERVICE CREDIT, YOU GOT A HOT ITEM, A COLD ITEM, AND A BEVERAGE!!!

Sorry, didn't think to take a picture here until I realized there was rum in the drink and Jack could finally say he found the rum!​

It's a Lava Colada... pureed raspberries and pina colada.

Scrambled Eggs, with home fries, biscuit and choice of bacon or sausage

I was surprised at how good this was - the eggs were great the the potatoes were fantastic!

Rhonda and I split the Jalapeno Spinach Cheese Dip - spinach and onions blended with melted Jalapeno Jack cheese and served hot with tortilla chips

And I had the Greenhouse Salad - fresh mixed salad greens, topped with Roma tomatoes, carrots, cheddar and jack cheeses, sunflower kernels, and croutons

Rhonda ordered the Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich - traditional pulled pork with Rocket Red barbecue sauce. Served with Kettle chips.

And Ruth and Sandy both had Big Brew Burger - 10 ounces of choice aged ground sirloin grilled to order and served with lettuce, tomato and Kettle chips

The food here was excellent and I can't wait to go back!!!

The one at Kona is a large piece of bread stuffed with bananas and coated in cinny sugar and then grilled. It is out of this world...crispy and crunchy on the outside, tender and creamy on the inside

Definitely need to think about Main Street Bakery for breakfast. That looks delicious and a good deal too.

And why didn't I ever consider Big River Grill? The nachos and dip are making me drool.

YUM! I skipped over here to your review from reading Nemo's TR. (Recognized your name when I was scrolling through the food reviews). I'm a Jamie, too (just spelled different), and we're the same age, so I just had to read about your trip. You all are my kind of eating people! Not a weird thing on the table yet!

I have to ask: do they use fresh pineapple at Kona on the pancakes? I LOVE fresh pineapple (and am sitting here actually eating a cupful I just bought at Kroger's for an arm and a leg). I wish they had a sampler platter for breakfast with a little Tonga toast and macadamia/pineapple pancakes, too! MMMM I think I'm going to roll out of the World after our Oct. trip .
