we bring camp chairs and sit for many of 'em!
Really? I thought Disney didn't allow you to bring in chairs.

I was wondering the same thing.
We were there the last week in april last year, waited until the second parade after the fireworks, walked over to frontierland a few minutes before the show, and sat on the rocking chairs....it felt like the parade was just for us! We were pretty much the ONLY people over there! Every single character waved and/or came over to us. It was one of the best memories from that trip! As some of the girls were closing up the shops they came out and gave us bags of leftover cotton candy that normally would have just been thrown out!! The whole thing was magical!

For the MVMCP last year we got as spot by the railing around 5:30. We relaxed and people watched while waiting for the parade to start. The views were great.
We were lucky to grab a table outside Casey's 10 minutes before Wishes. The view has some trees in front of it and we have seen Wishes many times so we didn't mind, we were just hoping to sit down and eat You could see the Electrical Parade from there but but a great view
For the parade, I've watched before from Liberty Square. Not sure if this is kosher, but several people brought a stool over from the seating area by Liberty Square Market. There were lots of CMs around, though, and nobody was told off for it (at least that I could tell). You can, of course, always grab a spot on the curb. No need to get here super duper early; this area is not in huge demand like Main St.
For Celebrate the Magic/Wishes, if you don't want to book the dessert party and don't mind camping out for a while (1 hour minimum), the yellow tables with umbrellas in front of The Plaza have a great view.
I could be wrong,
1- but are the lights by the train station kept on during Wishes, and
2- there is the flag pile in the middle? If so, that may be a hindrance for some. But again
3- I could be wrong there.

Folding chairs are specifically named on the list of items
not allowed to be taken into the parks.
Chairs would be too big to be carried, they won't fit on the rides and they
won't fit in to a locker.
No way to make that work.
I bring a stool that folds down almost as small as my rain poncho bag and so far nobody has said anything. I had knee problems so it worked well for watching parades. http://www.amazon.com/Walkstool-Com...TF8&qid=1361812138&sr=8-1&keywords=walk+stool

We always get great seats, but if I told you I'd have to.......
Low wall right outside of HoP.
I guessed there was a issue like kneee problems. I was goiing ti suggest that we are often ableto sit on the ground, but if knee problems are an issue, that's not goiing to work.
We're not ones to camp out especially early. I see lots of folks sitting on curbs.
One thing that you might be able to do is a split deployment, where you family find a good spot, then you find a place so sit. (nearby ) When the show is just about to start- that's when you make your move to join them.
You probably are not going to like my other suggestion...but you could rent a scooter for MK days. You don't have get one the whole vacation, and you don't have to sit in it all day.
A few years ago, a family member suffered an injury just before our vacation. As the vacation progressed, so did her ability to walk. The scooter really helped. She could walk for short intervals, then as soon as she was sore, she coud sit. That way her muscles did not tighten up.
