So my 8 year old saw the bbb advertising add as we were looking at things to do. Should I just buy her a tiara and dress and do her hair/make up on my own? Or just spend the 200+ on this one experience? I am doing the breakfast with princesses one morning and doing a dinner with beauty and the beast the night after that...

You don't have to spend $200. Our DDs loved it. We spent about $100 and our DDs loved the experience. Plus the last time we went our DD's hair stayed in for 3 days. She loved the pixie dust. They even put pixie dust on all of us there. It was fun (crowded) but fun. I would buy the costume yourself and just go for the hair and make-up. Your DD will love it.

My DD has loved it every trip since she was 3. She will be 8 for our next one and has already asked to make sure as it's a "must do". We always bring a dress from home and let her wear it on her way. I don't think Ive ever spent over a $100 although sometimes we throw in a t-shirt or hair accessories they have available :)

We did it when DD was 7. It was May so pretty hot we did not get a dress with the package she just wore a cute sun dress. We did the DTD(Disney Springs location) and no park on that day but 1900 Park Faire for Dinner. It was our first day at WDW. Her hair stayed nice for 2 days. So worth it

I don't think we even spent $100, including tip, and it was worth it.

We bought her dress at a Disney outlet before going on vacation, then had her hair, nails, and make-up done at BBB.
And they even sprinkled Daddy with pixie dust. She loved it.

I did not see this mentioned but we did this for both our DDs this past trip at the DS BBB, and they both really loved it. My DW could have done them up just as good, but they absolutely loved the attention and fuss they received while getting it done. I think that helps make it more special, then mom doing it. We had also purchased the Memory Maker before our trip and after BBB they told us to go over to the Disney Photo pass location/guest services building and there they did a photo shoot of each DD separate and then together. We got some great pics of them. We had their dresses prior to going, so only purchased the makeover.

I didn't think so, but then I never actually did BBB. Instead I watched Youtube videos and saw how it was done, only I changed it a bit since my niece has long curly hair. I did a bun and left ringlets coming out the bottom of the bun. I bought a crown at the shop outside VotLM and put it in her hair. We went to the MK and the godmothers outside BBB added glitter to her hair. We had many people and CM's commenting on her hair and everyone thought she had been to BBB.

It's all up to your budget, if it's tight, no. It it's roomy, then yes!

If there are a limited amount of extras, I say no. No princesses are actually there, if that matters.

Thanks guys! My budget is pretty open, she's my only daughter(I also have 3 boys) so for her to be spoiled a little bit and have a "girly" day(I'm
Doing the princess dinner the same night I am sched the bbb) I just was curious how "special"
They make the little ones feel!

We took our daughter for her 5th birthday and she loved every minute of it! Totally worth it and it's something she still talks about 18 months later ...

We've done it twice and my 9 year old saved her own money for this time. I think it's great. We don't do the really expensive package just the hair, nails and makeup.

We did just the hair and makeup and bought our own dresses ahead of time. Mostly because the full package for two kids was waaaay too rich for my blood but also because DD5 is very picky about how ichy her clothes are. They had a great time (but they're into that sort of thing) and they looked adorable for two days. We were actually approached by a woman in the Mad Teacup line who said, "Oh my goodness, what a transformation. We saw you in line this morning (she remembered their dresses)" and she just gushed about how princessy they looked. We also really noticed that CMs were extra nice to them. We met Ariel at her grotto that day and she spent more time with them than any other M&G on other days. Maybe we just got a great Ariel but we were convinced it was BBB.

The sweet spot is probably 4-6 years old. I, too, recommend buying the dress and accessories prior to the trip and taking them along. My girls each did it twice. After that, I got pretty good as recreating the hairstyles in the hotel room, including pixie dust (spray glitter). They liked the fact that people "thought" they had gone to BBB when if fact they hadn't. We let the girls pick 1 "special" extra to do each trip. They have now moved on to other things including bowling, archery, and horseback riding at Ft Wilderness.

I've never done it. IMO it's not worth spending the money. A few years ago...we brought one of my daughter's dress up dresses, hair spray, sparkles, etc and did her up myself. Save the money and spend it on something else. And wow....a couple hundred dollars? Prices have gone up. I think when I looked into it back then, it was only going to be like $60! Oh, that was without the dress though. Crazy....there's plenty of other things to spend your money on.

It might even be more than that now. We spent $200/pp back in 2009!!!!

I think Z would love it, but I can't justify the price. I am darn good with hair, and we'll do a "mommy boutique." She already has amazing dress up dresses, and DH ordered her a sparkly crown. The price ($60 for just hair and makeup) will pay for she and I to do a character breakfast, which she'll enjoy more. Or pay a hefty chunk of dinner with Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare!

If you're interested in a less expensive but fun option...you can make a reservation for the barber shop on Main Street. (Harmony Barber Shop). They do the princess hairdos including sparkles, colors, pixie dust, etc. for a fraction of the price! Fairly sure it's less than $15.00. Bring your own princess dress to wear & she'll be all set! They're terrific with the little girls & do make a big fuss over them too.

If your budget allows, then I think you should do it! I paid for one of my nieces, and she was in heaven the whole time! Even at 7 she liked people gushing over her and pampering her. I think it is well worth the cost. When we went it was around Halloween, so I purchased her dress ahead of time at the Disney Store. But that sucker took up almost a whole suitcase, lol!
