Is it true?

Is it true that during the Christmas season (particularly Christmas day and after that there are no discounts to be had on planning a vacation to Disney? Anyone ever planned a trip this time of year and was it costly?

Currently, if you check-in before 12/20 you will pay value rates at the Disney hotels no matter when you check-out. We were originally booked at the Poly from 12/20 - 12/27 at $469+ tax per night but when we changed it to 12/19 check-in the rate dropped to $299 per night. We are still hoping that room-only discount codes come out for this timeframe to further reduce the rate. Last year the room-only codes were good for check-in thru 12/26 so it's possible to get a discount but it's too soon to say for certain. My travel agent said probably late Aug to mid-Sept is when any discounts will be announced. Keep an eye on www.mousesavers.com too as the discounts get posted there fairly quickly.

We know it'll be crowded but still can't wait to experience Disney at Christmas. I hope you will too.

Hey - it doesn't say "Low Budget Board"!!:p

Everyone has a budget - some are just larger then others!

A few Christmas' ago we knew someone who stayed in FW and still paid $80 a night! To camp! :earseek:

We have done this for about 4 times in the last 8 years. Last year, last minute tried to get a ressie ended up staying outside at Residence Inn by Sea World, paid over 150.00 per night. Never would have before. We did New Years Eve at the parks, it was so crowed the ride waits were over 2 hours. We rode tower or terror and that was it for the whole day. A waist of 5 adult tickets. We should have known better. We back in the hotel to watch the fireworks on TV.

We go every year at Christmas and we always get a discount on a Disney Deluxe or we stay at either Swan or Dolphin when we couldn't check-in before the rates went up.

This year, we are going the week before Christmas so we should be able to get a discount for a Disney Deluxe. You just have to plan carefully and keep an eye out for the discounts and adjust your check-in date to coincide with the discounts.

But, if you want to check in after Christmas and be in the World for New Year's Eve, you can pretty much forget a discount...that is the busiest week of the year!
