Short answer...Yes, it's worth it. Now for the reasons why...
Disney World is all about making dreams come true for people of all ages. If you've always wanted to stay at the GF, and you've reached a point in your life where you can afford to do so, then I say go for it. 3 Years ago I faced the same decision. That year I took my g/f to the All Star movies with free dining, and had a fun trip. But, I kept looking over to the Contemporary. I have always wanted to stay there in a MK view room. Well, after getting home I did some research and found out how much it would cost to stay there for a week. I then figured how much I'd have to save up each month for a year to do it. The final number was very much within my means, so I went for it. Turns out it was the best vacation I've taken. I can't even begin to explain how excited I was when I first saw the CR through the windshield of the ME bus (despite all the splattered bugs on the windshield, actually posted that pic somewhere before
)
I do spend most of my time at the parks. But every time I crested the hill of Splash Mountain, or looked over from Summit Plummet or the Top of Everest and saw the CR, I got this happy feeling knowing I was finally staying there. Because i did enjoy it so much, i actually took some extra time away from the parks to swim in the pool, or have a drink at the outer rim. Me, at Disney, not in the parks during operating hours? Unheard of
The trip was so much better because I was at the CR, that I quickly made the decision that it was worth it to go every other year instead of every year if it meant staying at the CR again. Many have said on this thread to use the extra money to eat at V&A's, go to spas, etc. Why do that if I have no interest in that? My interest is staying at the CR again. I'll be doing so in 3 days and I can't wait. Follow your heart, try the GF. If you've dreamed as long as I have about the CR, it will be very, very special
