Inappropriate costumes at MNSSHP

We have seen very sexy costumes and some very scarey ones too. The scarey ones bothered me more because some small children were scared of them.

Most we saw were sexy pirate wenches. Some were well done and some were over the top, to say the least. I think some wear coverups to get past the gate and leave them in lockers.

I think that one was in NOLA at Mardis Gras I have seen it posted before.

That picture is actually from DL New Orleans Square, they are mother/daughter and yes that is skin. I have a larger cut copy and in it you can see 2 security agents who are about to escort them from the park.

My DD9 (she was about 5 at that time) saw four princesses being removed from the premises. They were smoking at the wishing well beside the castle. When a little girl asked for an autograph they said something not so princessy. When a CM told them they should refrain from smoking they got even ruder. In addition their costumes seemed to show more leg and bust than the park ones.

As a single man, I saw nothing wrong with their costumes. They were hubba da hubbada. But as a father, I see they were bad influences. They had an early end to their MNSSHP that night.

If you really want to be shocked, head to the water parks in July...when the Brazilians are in town.

I just don't understand the need to be "sexy" at Disney world. Tinkerbell is a fairy! Jasmine is wearing traditional clothing for her location and time.
Pirates wore long dresses. Alice wears an apron and white tights. Where is the sexy needed?

I would love to see a video of people being thrown out of disney world. That would make me laugh.

My friend got thrown off Pleasure Island for being to scantly clad...she had on a bra top and a lace mini skirt with a thong under it and gogo boots.:scared1: I warned her but miss I'm a six foot tall red head with a great body I can wear what I want where I want wouldn't listen to me:laughing::rotfl::lmao: So we had to go over to WOD and buy a 4x t-shirt and turn it into a mini dress. No matter the Devil Rays were in training that week and visiting the BET club and liked her anyway:sad2::eek::rolleyes1

I don't have a problem with belly buttons showing! Jasmine's outfit is quite classy as her legs are all covered It's when the chesticles and exposed with the short SHORT skirts that it gets trashy!

It's the tutu skirts and bustier tops I don't like in Disney, and on teens/preteens.

I think the real reason I didn't wear the Ariel costume was it was just a BRA. I used a purple bra to make the costume back in feb for a concert I was in (I sang Part of your World) I wouldn't be comfertable walking round MK in just a bra and green "tail" (long skirt)

What are chesticles? :confused3 And are you saying exposed leg is trashier than exposed belly?

I used to wear miniskirts (not tight ones - little flippy ones), back when I was a teenager... I never once suspected I was being "trashy". After all, it wasn't like I was wearing a thong underneath!

Actually... come to think of it, my dresses as a little girl back in the early seventies were always pretty short, too. They came with matching cotton undies, in those days.

That picture is actually from DL New Orleans Square, they are mother/daughter and yes that is skin. I have a larger cut copy and in it you can see 2 security agents who are about to escort them from the park.

That's SKIN!? :scared1: And they actually wore it to Disneyland?

Okay, that one wins for inappropriate! :lmao: What a pair!

I don't expect any children were traumatized. However, some adults might've had nightmares that night...

I don't know about MNSSHP. But I did see a woman in her twenties walking around MK in a CHILD's Alice dress and she was not wearing tights or leggings. :scared1:

And she was with a lot of people. And it was not Halloween.

Tink is the definition of sexy, in the original film. She's all short-skirted bottom and bust, checking out her reflection by walking on a mirror. I don't think she gets a pass, just because she's a fairy.

And as for "sexy" popping up at unusual places in WDW... a few years back the MVMCP stage show (not the one on the castle stage, the other one), featured Minnie Mouse singing "Santa Baby" as a torch song, complete with hip wiggle, shimmy and all.

You should've seen my husband's jaw drop. And my kids still mimic her for laughs, "Saaaanta BAYbee..." Sexy, sexy Minnie. I'll never be able to look at her the same way again.

i suspect i am of a similar vintage as you. I also grew up in a house with no locked doors. When we lived in the country, on saturdays, i would pack a lunch, walk down to the creek and be gone alone all day when i was 10 or 11.

But -- i also came home and watched villages being burned and bombs going off on the news while they talked about how many soldiers were killed that day, on our side and theirs. I saw people getting sprayed with fire hoses and attacked with dogs because they wanted to sit anywhere on the bus they could find a seat. I heard the stories of young men who were beaten to death or burned alive because they smiled at the wrong woman or said the wrong thing, or, god forbid! Wanted to vote in elections. All the kids were fingerprinted in school during the cuban missile crisis to make it easier to identify the bodies after the war.

I heard the grownups whisper about poor mrs. Johnson and her kids that kept showing up with bruises. But, what are you going to do? How a man runs his family is his business. When we lived in town, i walked to school by myself -- and was targeted by a pedophile. It got as far as him getting me in the house and letting him pick me up and hold me before we moved in the middle of the school year.

Don't kid yourself that all the bad things that happen now weren't happening then.

well said!!

When we went last year I wore a "sexy" Alice costume I just thought it was cute. I didn't find it too bad. It's similar to the Queen one posted. On normal people they dont look as short because the models are super tall. I know there are some pretty scandalous costumes that wouldn't be appropriate and I wouldn't wear in Disney but I found it ok. I also put a pair of skin colored shorts underneath to be safe as well. Not sure if this is the type OP meant though.

I think your costume is cute. I have certainly seen MUCH shorter shorts walking around WDW. And, you had shorts underneath.

My question is would those of you feel that a girl was too sexual if she had on shorts that short?

As a busty gal, I suppose I'll be showing too much cleavage for some if this thread is reflective of those in the World on October 10th in http://www.caufields.com/productimages/halloween/378/display/378_83197X.jpg

Odds are your little one isn't perceiving the costume as sexual. And, if you're really worried, take it as a teachable moment about what your family considers appropriate, and what kind of negative attention you feel that the lady in question is calling to herself.

Now, the Minnie Mouse "shirt" :sad2: I would certainly hope that wouldn't be allowed in.

Chesticles = breasts.

And no, you've misunderstood me, I'm sorry. It's more the case that these little "sexy" costumes are about showing legs and chest.
Which is a cardinal sin of fashion! It's trashy to draw attention to both legs and chest, as in those overtly seductive and short costumes! Keep it to one or the other!

I definitely agree that a lot of these costumes are totally tasteless, and showing both leg and chest is always a bad choice. Unfortunately, that's mostly what's out there. DSis and I spent an entire evening being amused by the sheer number of "sexy" Disney character options that were out there. There were some seriously ridiculous options.

But unfortunately, all of the non-Disney costume brands for Minnie were of that variety. I don't have an objection per se to a short costume, but I just wouldn't be comfortable at this age in a skirt that short. I think someone posted about this earlier, but I ended up shelling out the $80 for the Disney Store version because Minnie was what I had my heart set on. Not everyone has that option though.

To be honest, the skirt on the Disney Store costume is still slightly shorter than I would prefer but it wouldn't really be considered revealing. Whether something is inappropriate isn't necessarily related to the amount of skin showing. And the fact that some people just have no class certainly isn't limited to Halloween. :rolleyes1

IMO It doesn't matter if you feel that teens shouldn't wear "inappropriate" costumes because your kids are around. This day and age your kids are going to see it somewhere, unless you never let them leave your house, watch any t.v.,look at magazines, or use the web.

Round of Applause! Nicely Said!

I'd have to do more research before I could agree or disagree with this.

:lmao:

I think you can make most costumes appropriate for any situation. I have one of those "sexy cop" costumes that I wore to work by adding black leggings and wearing a black cami underneath. I even carried a box of Krispy Kremes tied up with police tape.

well, to be honest...even though the costume isn't unflattering on you, i DO think it's extremely short and inappropriate in a family setting.

And there ARE costumes out there for grown ups that are not 'sexy'...check ebay...use some creativity...some effort.

As for not dresing as characters, DH and I dressed as pirates last year and several people thought we were cast members. So that theory is shot.

Thanks everyone :)
I personally don't find it that short and bad compared to some things people wear everyday. As I said to be safe since it was short I wore shorts underneath.

We were about 5th row back for the 2nd parade and a young woman in the 2nd row wearing a very short skin tight police officer costume was the only one standing and obstructing the view. I overheard the lady next to me say that her skirt was so short she couldn't sit down. I ended up chuckling and giving her a high 5 for having the guts to say that.

I also saw a Mad Hatter costume that had 69/420 on the tag instead of 10/60 or whatever it is.
