I'm Going Away... FOREVER! Oh, Great! Could You Get Me a Sandwich?? - updated 6/23!

  1. I am starting this TR within a reasonable time since returning from our trip, so everything is relatively fresh in my mind
    .
  2. I knew going into this trip that I would probably write this TR, so I took more pictures than usual
    .
  3. Food Porn, completely non-existent in the previous TR, will make an appearance
    .
  4. Less "Little Black Rain Clouds" will follow us around
    .
  5. An expanded Cast of Characters, including the newest member of our immediate family, and several members of our extended family.
    .
  6. Non-disney life updates. I have changed my view since the first TR. If something is happening while I am writing this, I'll share it with all you.
    .
  7. Color coding. With the inclusion of things not directly related to this vacation, I'm going to try to color-code my updates so anyone skimming can easily find them.
    • TR updates will be BLUE
      [*]Life stuff will be GREEN
      [*]Flashbacks will be ORANGE
    .
  8. No names will be changed to protect the guilty! None of this DD, DS, DW, etc. stuff. Let's get personal and use actual names!

Sounds a lot like my TR writing evolution! I am along for the ride and looking forward to it!!!!!!!!! Great intro's.

Joining in too.

Thanks for joining in!!

Nice to meet you and the family.

Thanks, Norm! Welcome!

Looking forward to reading your TR! It is always fun to take your kid for the first time and wonder if they will love it or hate it LOL I'm lucky mine are as addicted to the place as me.

Welcome Aboard! I know we've got one addicted. We'll have to see if the other one follows suit.

Yay! The new TR is started! :cool1:

Great job with the introductions! :thumbsup2 Bella & Jackson are so precious!

I can't wait to hear all about the vacation!

Great to see you found it! Thanks for joining!!

I'm in! Sounds like it's going to be a fun ride! :-)

Welcome! and thanks!!

Thank you!! I think it was on yours and one other that I noticed the color-coding, so I borrowed it.

Sounds good I'm in.

Thanks for reading!!

I definitely color code for quotes, with up to 6 of us, relaying a conversation is a little easier that way. :rotfl:

I gave up the pseudonyms for folks after my first TR, too much work to keep it straight!

Wow... right out of the gate I manage to hit a snag and go a good week or so without updating the TR!! ugh!!

No more of that!! getting back in the swing and keeping this moving along. I hope you all are having a good Labor Day weekend so far. I had to work Saturday, but I have the next two days off. That has allowed me to stay up late and finish the introductions, which are back on page 1. There you can meet the rest of our extended family.

Been a little stressed out. Spread ourselves a bit thin with the vacation, and taking the couple of weeks off from work meant no paycheck during that time. We came back and right away the washing machine died... and the phone wouldn't stop ringing...

But we're managing to get by without the washing machine for now, and we avoided a would-be-disaster this week when my boss neglected to approve my timesheet. I *almost* didn't get paid yesterday. But the error was caught and fixed and the money came through, and bills got paid, and now the phone will be quieter and we can enjoy the holiday weekend...

saturday morning we hit the beach:

Didn't stay too long because we had to get back home so I could change and get to work. Bella was upset we didn't stay longer, and Jackson probably would have preferred not going at all. He didn't enjoy himself and lately he has been afraid of the water.

We'll see how much more fun we can have this holiday weekend before summer vacation comes to an end and Bella starts kindergarten and Lisa goes back to work. (Lisa went back thursday, but then had friday off and goes back this upcoming week)

Nice little beach trip. And excellent “Green” post.

I also went back and read up on the rest of the traveling party as well. Quite the crew! First off: congratulations to your Mom and Dad, both on the anniversary and on getting that large a family “all growed up” and out into the wild, wild world. With that big a crew, I suspect that nearly everything y’all put together was an adventure and a half.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

Love the beach pictures....very cute!!

And I got all caught up on the updated family introductions! You have a nice sized family! I come from such a small family, I'm always amazed by large families. :rotfl2: And no matter the size of the family, differences occur. My sister lives maybe a mile from me but we don't see each other a lot. We can go weeks without talking. She's 6 years older than me & we are just 2 very different people. But, I know we'll always be there for each other if we need. It just is what it is.....you know? :confused3

Thank you. I do not know how my mom did it. I feel overwhelmed most of the time with just the two I have. I cannot imagine 6 more!! I realize we weren't all rugrats at the same time, so that probably helped... but still... :worship:

Thank you. My wife comes from a small family. I think mine is overwhelming to her. She's never understood how I can go weeks without speaking to anyone in my family and be okay with that. I always tell her that the way we look at it, if you haven't heard from somebody, that means they're okay. It's when they're in trouble or need something that they come calling!!

And now with Facebook... you just check their pages to see what they're up to!! It kind of helps, but it also feeds the madness since that takes away the need to call anyone. :rotfl2:

Just wanted to join in and say hi! You have an adorable family, so I guess I can look past the mets fan thing...

Looking forward to reading more!

Great updated intros! As the oldest of 6, I can relate to a lot of what you wrote. So nice to "meet" the bigger group. I wish I'd have realized there were 2 additional birthdays, I'd have incorporated that into the FE. Big families are a blessing and...a challenge. :lmao: Jeff gets a bit overwhelmed by mine as well.

FUN beach pictures, so cute!!!!

I hear you on the post vacation stress. I believe that January, and post vacation, are the brokest times of the year. We had a similar situation with our dishwasher. Luckily Jeff was able to fix it but in the interim, it was a lot of hand-washing. Had he not fixed it, I'd still be doing dishes now! I had let the house basically get down to a zero supply load before our trip and had to wait till friday (payday) to go stock back up. UGH, that was not a fun total $ at Costco and I've not even made a dent. Very glad you got paid and hope you don't have to be without a washing machine for too much longer.

I'm following along! You have a beautiful family :goodvibes I love the pictures of Bella at the beach, very cute!

Subbing. Loved Escape From New York trip report.

Thanks for reading!! Unfortunately, there's no blizzards or crazy cab rides in this one.

Well, since I can't stop you from reading and I don't have the power to delete your posts... Welcome Aboard!! :rotfl2:

I think we can put our differences aside for the time being. The Nats look like they'll be driving us both crazy for a few years.

Thanks. Bella was more than willing to pose for me that day at the beach. Jackson... not so much. :rotfl2:

I made an attempt to fix the washing machine. But in the end I couldn't figure out the problem after I eliminated some of the obvious culprits. And to top it off, I broke a somewhat important piece as I was reassembling it. Oops! So now it's officially dead. I put it out of its misery! :thumbsup2

I definitely have a sickness because despite the fact that we just returned and our bank accounts could use a few months to get healthy again, I'm already scheming on how we will manage to put down our deposit for the 2014 cruise. Rumor has it the dates are being released very soon, and supposedly someone who recently sailed on the Magic out of NY was told that the Magic was returning to NY in 2014... and that possibility of an 8-night out of NY has us salivating!

Welcome!!! Thanks for reading! I was very happy with the way those beach pictures came out. My camera and I seem to be getting along with each other once again. I think it's forgiven me for how I treated it on vacation!!

Caught up on the extended intros! That's a lot of people to travel with, but I can't wait to hear all about it!

ah well if it makes you feel better Jeff tried to fix the dishwasher/disposal for a year, maybe more and it wasn't until the partial attempts resulted in a full shut down that all got fixed correctly.

Oh and....we did book a dummy cruise just so I could move it when 2014 comes out and keep the OBC and discount so I can totally relate. My challenge will be the timing of when 2014 comes out and how it works out with wanting an add on to our DVC lol!

Imagine if the other three came along too!! :lmao:

I always tell people that my immediate family is big, but there's not much beyond that. My dad has a sister and she has 3 kids. One of those kids has another 2. My mom has 2 sisters and a brother and their families, but because of a rift between them, we don't see them or really talk to them. My grandparents have all passed, so you've just about met my entire family. :lmao:

on the other hand, my wife's got only 1 sister, but she can fill a boat will all her aunts, uncles, cousins and whatnot.

That does make me feel better. Thank you.

We dropped the ball on the dummy cruise. We talked about it briefly before the trip and money was too tight. Then on the cruise we changed our minds, but never found the time to visit wherever it was you had to go to talk to someone about it. Really kicking ourselves about that.

Forgot to mention before that we didn't tell everyone about the girls' birthdays because from my perspective, I was more concerned about making the cruise about our parents' anniversary. I left the girls' birthdays to their dad and figured we'd celebrate them at WDW after the cruise. One was on the last night, and the other was while we were at WDW the week after.

Just found this and am comiong along for the ride.

Great start. Big cast.

Looks like you had a nice little beach getaway over the long weekend! :thumbsup2 Just a shame that Jackson isn't a big beach fan. :rotfl2:
