Maybe a dumb question. But, how much ice does the ice makers in the cabin refrigerators generate? I've booked my first time in a cabin (yay!!). I should be using normal ice usage for drinks except I will completely fill a Camelbak backpack water bladder with ice each day to keep cold water for as long as possible in the parks. Should I bring some old ice trays to supplement the ice machine production?

My DW and I go through a lot of ice as we drink a lot of club soda. We found that after 1st 12 hours ice maker in the cabins freezer were more than capable of keeping up and meeting our needs. Make sure you have it turned on after arrival but if you willl need Ice right after you arrive go and get a bag from Meadows complex or if you have a car bring a cooler and pick up prior to checking in

Excellent. Thanks! We will have a car, and we'll probably make a grocery stop on the drive in. So, I'll get a cooler and some ice, which will hold any cold stuff we get before we arrive. Plus, that will give us that ice to use right on arrival (we're shooting to get there early afternoon to hit the parks as quick as possible!)

Glad I could help Ask and I am sure you will get plenty of recommendations on nearby grocery stores. We tend to take a run out on 192 to the Walmart for resupply runs

Just to answer my own question from a couple of months ago, but we're here now, and the ice maker is only making a handful of drops each day. Not really enough to keep up with my daily needs. I probably should have brought a couple of ice trays.

BobbyS remember that the more of a freezer that is occupied the more efficient it is. Try placing a few water bottles inside the freezer to help. Now not only is the space got something in it you will have cold water ( We Take 1 bottle per person with you each day place them in 1 gal. ziplock bag wrapped in a towel and place in my backpack and suck on them for most of our touring day as the defrost. In a pinch we will refill from water fountains and let remaining ice cool it down to drinkable status) Just replace what you take out with a fresh bottle before you leave

And it's good to take a sip out of it first. Water will expand when frozen and can blow the top off the bottle. As it starts to melt, you may get water where it wasn't intended if you are not careful.
