After months of deliberation and anxiously awaiting a PIN, I finally picked my honeymoon :bride: hotel, the Yacht Club!! We're going in Oct and I think it'll be awesome to be so close to Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival. I am going to try to avoid reading anything bad about YC between now and Oct because I'm such a spaz that I'll totally freak out. But hearing great things about it would get me even more excited (if thats possible!) So let's hear it! Tell me all about your amazing YC experience :yay: Thank you, thank you!!! And I would love any advice (it's my first trip) but nothing negative or else I'll freak, and nobody wants that (and by nobody, I mean my fiance, whos about ready to jump off a bridge if he hears "I know we decided on a hotel, again, BUT I read....")

You'll always hear negative feedback from some about any resort. As for positive, one thing I can tell you is, guidebooks love the YC. More books select the Yacht Club as the best Deluxe Resort on property than any other, including the Grand Floridian. :thumbsup2

I saw that in Birnbaums, I wonder why that is? I'm going to assume it's cause it's awesome

Yup, Birnbaum's, Complete Idiots Guide to WDW, one of the Fodor's Guides. Any book that has ranking of the best resorts, it's always listed in the top 3, usually right along with the GF, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge. They must be doing something right.

This August will be our 1st stay there as well.

Y&BC are our favorites, nine years and counting....

Location, location - easy walk into International Gateway entrance to Epcot, easy walk to Boardwalk for evening activities (restaurants and entertainment), also walk there in morning to Boardwalk Bakery. Walk to DHS is about 15-20 minutes or take the boat.

The CMs at Y&BC so helpful :lovestruc

Many restaurant options at the resort.

The rooms just renovated within the last year. - lovely and comfortable.

And of course the pool!!!

Should I continue?

Continue! Continue! I love hearing how great it is!! I requested a courtyard view (since we got a standard view) and a private balcony....good idea?

We chose YC CL for our vacation this June b/c after extensive analysis it just seemed to really fit us. We stayed BWI last year and LOVED It but every time we walked by YC/BC I would say "YC reminds me sooo much of Nantucket"..I loved the themed look of the building..I can't wait to hear about your stay from what I read - CMs there are great, location is fabulous and it will be a great time! Enjoy!!! (they have a really nice view of the WEDDING GAZEBO as well..maybe you'll be upgraded!! :)

I've only stayed there once, but it is by far the most beautiful and sophisticated-feeling resort there. We had one of the rooms that they no longer have - it had a Murphy bed and a sitting area/living room and a wet bar. Absolutely the best room and the best location. Now with the kids, we can't find a room that will fit our needs there without going to a suite, so we'll never stay there again, but if I could, I definitely would!

We stayed there for our 20th anniversary and loved it! I've always wanted to go back and when we finally had the chance this past February it was booked and we had to stay at the Beach Club (okay, but don't really care for it). I definitely want to go back some day.

The request of courtyard view is good if you have booked a standard view. Some of the standard view are not the best, however there are some decent garden view rooms that are standard view as well as the quiet pool view rooms are considered starndard view. :thumbsup2

If you really are concerned with view, changing your reservation to a waterview room would be a good idea.

Waterview rooms at the YC are the best!! :thumbsup2 We always request a marina/lake view ~~ Love sitting out on the balcony watching the boats with the Boardwalk in the distance.

I would love to do a water view, but were already way over our original budget and I just can't justify it, fingers crossed for at least a court yard view, but if not, no biggie, if its a parking lot view, its still a Disney World parking lot!!!

The YC is our favorite resort! I can't think of one negative thing about it. Others have pointed all the great things about the resort, so I just wanted to tell you about something that happened to us.

We returned to our room one day for a shower/nap and shortly after we arrive in the room our neighbors start fighting. These were college aged kids and the fight got very verbal with lots of extremely nasty profanity. DH knocked on the connecting door and we were yelled back at with the same sort of language.

We called the front desk and a manager was there in about 5 minutes. The fighting had stopped, but upon investigation they found that only 1 person in the room was over 21 and everyone there was drunk! (This was around 2pm, BTW). They also found lots of liquor and some drugs from what we understood. They did not hesitate to escort them from the hotel. I think the police may have actually been involved. Several other neighbors around us had also heard the fighting and were witnesses.

We were impressed, because usually when you call the front desk with something like that it takes forever for them to even check it out and it seems like they NEVER do anything about it. We were relieved because as it was, we spent the next few days having to explain things to our curious 11 year old who heard a little too much before his big brother took him for a walk!

Hope your honeymoon is magical!!

Totally understand! No matter the room view, the YC is such a wonderful resort. Hoping a little pixie dust for you! :wizard:
