I want a Divorce!!!

Did you ever think that just maybe he was having some fun with the whole situation?:lovestruc

I'm sure he was.

However, you asked me if I "didn't find it the least bit funny" and I answered you, and with an explaination. Sorry that it doesn't strike my funny bone.

Forget it...there's not a member of the GOP alive with the ability read through that whole thing. If I can make a suggestion, condense it, put it on a bumper sticker and you might just have your new party standard bearer...that is, if Rush Limbaugh's heart doesn't hold out much longer. :teeth:

I find this post very insulting and completely and totally uncalled for. :sad2: The responses on this thread (save for yours) have been very civil. If someone found it funny, they said so. If not, they said so.

OP, I personally find what you shared funny. I'd vote for the guy too.:thumbsup2

It wasn't funny. It was unnecessary. The country is already polarized to the Nth degree enough as it is. Neither side is right or wrong. The answer is in the middle.

I get that it's a joke, but no, I don't find it funny. Divisive and juvenile, yes.

I don't think that Laugh O. Gram's comment was any more offensive than any of the sweeping stereotypes put forth in the OP's joke.

We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem.
I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach
the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

I think that was one of the most insulting posts on the DIS. That was completely uncalled for. Most of the discussion on this thread has been civil.

You guys have got to be kidding me! I'm Mr. Civil!! It's clearly a joke in the exact same vein as the orignal post. Please..compose yourselves and lighten up a bit. We all know what's good for the goose...

Thank you! Seems some people find that humor is only funny if it's not directed at one's opinions personally. Sheesh!!

No law student with a brain would sign that because the vast majority of law professors are liberals. Besides, only a non-lawyer would think that signing something "law student" gives it anymore credence than signing something "garbage man."

Oh, and it's stupid and poorly written. When one has to stoop to fat jokes, they aren't that bright.

Next.

The original joke, which has been called stupid, poorly written, divisive, juvenile, etc? If those responses were good for the original joke, then they are just as valid in response to yours.

Guilty as charged...see SAHDad gets it!! :lmao: :thumbsup2

Bingo. Unless, of course, the guy goes to a bad law school, in which case he may not be all that bright.

When I was in law school I don't think I would have ever signed something "Law Student." I can only imagine the grief I would have gotten from my friends. What a toolbox. There was a guy a couple of years behind me who would always send letters to the editor of local newspapers and sign it with something like "Law Student"... he had a really high opinion of himself, but yeah, no one liked him. He tried to drum up support for dismantling our student bar association because during an election they disqualified him for violating the rules... which he did. His argument was basically that he was too awesome to be punished that way and that he didn't understand the rules, so the best solution would be to get rid of the rules completely.

When I read the OP's post, and saw it was signed "Law Student", yeah, I immediately thought of that guy.

That said, a little bit of this lengthy screed was funny, most of it wasn't.

If only it could happen.........:thumbsup2

Subject: I want a Divorce !!!

THOUGHT YOU ALL WOULD LOVE THIS ! ! ! ! I CERTAINLY DID !

THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY WELL PUT AND I CAN HARDLY
BELIEVE IT'S BY A YOUNG PERSON, A STUDENT!!! WHATEVER
HE RUNS FOR, I'LL VOTE FOR HIM.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives,
socialists,Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:
We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole
of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a
divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of
future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course.
Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on
what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile
and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass
each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure
our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it
should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly
divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate
tastes.
We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You
are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns
and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the
military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell (You are,
however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move
all three of them).

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations,
pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved
homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep
the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll
keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain
the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the
peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under
assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to
Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the
U.N.. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars.
You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing
doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a
right.
We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem.
I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach
the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give
trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll
keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other
like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree,
just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you
ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall
Law Student and an American
P.S. Also, please take Barbara Streisand & Jane Fonda with you.

:cloud9: if only...

Well, that was special...I appreciate political humor, but I didn't think it was funny...too many stereotypes, nothing witty. Glad you enjoyed it!

LOL allison, I was just going to say that you all can keep the "homeboys!" I don't want 'em! :lmao:
