I love credit cards so much!

Wow! So many people going to the land this summer! I will be there June 19-20 and July 17-20. Still trying to decide where to stay for our july trip so I've loved all the hotel discussions!

not too fond of the heavy crowds, but i do like watching the changes happen. My few friends sometimes gets exclusive things(got to try out Paint the Night Premium seating), hopefully ill go in when Pixar pier opens...
Only going on June 18th to escort my niece and nephew+parential. probably be that ***** that holds a fireworks spot for them... :P

Where is a good spot to watch the fireworks?

if u can manage to find a spot right side of the hub, i think thats the best. left side of the hub, trees are always in the way. The train station or that area is also pretty good imo.
i personally like watching it from the parking structure though lol.
sometimes if its too crowded, ill watch it from the corn dog stand on MS.

That's good to know about the discount. I was referring more to the 2% cash back on Costco Travel as an executive member - do you know if you get that on a transferred booking?
I was referring to both. Yes, they treat it the same as if they booked it from the start. The Costco agent told me I’d get the cash card plus 2% when I transferred our cruise

I think this is appropriate for the budget board because it's about saving money!

I just purchased what would have cost over $15k in airfare for under $500 thanks to credit card points/miles.

It was a huge PITA transferring and sorting everything out/finding availability but saving that much money is kind of a rush! I've used points for flights before but never this complicated or for such a high cash price tag!

For one leg of my trip United kept asking if I would like to buy my ticket for zero points for only $7,995...no, United I would not. Also does that ever work?
Thats awesome!

Band parent here (trumpets and saxophones). Band is how my kids learned about football -- we actually are pretty big fans of our local college team now (bought season tickets a few years ago), and one of my son's friends is an NFL quarterback, so we follow his team. Ten years ago I never would have predicted that our family would become football fans, but life is weird.
That’s pretty funny. Interestingly my DH is not a sports fan at all. We were married 20 years before DS came along and during that time, I was the only one in our house to watch sports. Now DS (8) is sports obsessed. We joke he will become a sportscaster or bookie because he loves sports and math. He memorizes stats for football, hockey and soccer teams. My sister thinks it’s hilarious that my sports hating husband got a sports loving kid.

I've had a Chase checking account for a few years now. Can I just call and ask for a Disney debit? I was never given the option when I opened my account. I'd like to have for the discounts for my October trip to WDW. No point in carrying DH's Disney visa - we don't use it for any spending anymore.
I think so, unless it’s a Chase Private Client debit. I think those are different. You can click on your checking account, then go to Things you can do and see if it will let you order a new debit card.

Ha ha. We watched from our hotel room.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend. It is hot here (which I dislike) but it’s getting us ready for our Grand Canyon trip next week I guess. :scared:

Hits and misses today. Finally found Ticketmaster GCs at Best Buy, used Chase Pay! Also had cashier scan Shopkick but I checked after leaving the store and it wasn’t on the receipt so I guess I missed those points. Cashier had loads of trouble with the GCs, 2 registers refused $300 GC. I finally told him to try $100 x3 cards which worked. He then realized the register had a $200 limit. In the confusion, I didn’t get my Shopkick scan :sad1:

Also needed something at Bed Bath & Beyond. Still have GCs from there when I was denied getting a Disney GC with them. Saw the same manager there again, so didn’t bother trying. There is a BB&B close to work, so I’ll have to try there in a few weeks.

I had forgotten about the 2% back as an executive. Drats. Just paid in full for an upcoming trip without upgrading our membership. Do you still get the 2% back when paying with Disney gift cards?

I’m paid in full too but thought that didn’t matter. I was planning on upgrading in August. And I believe it doesn’t matter if you pay with gift cards but would also love to know if someone knows for sure.

Now that you say that, I seem to recall that you just have to upgrade before the cruise start date. Is that right? Our upcoming cruise is a cheap one, so it may not be worth it for us.

That’s my understanding. Wouldn’t break even only be $3,000 (regular Costco purchases plus travel)? Plus don’t they refund you the difference if you don’t come out ahead?

I was told it didn’t matter how we paid but Haven’t done it yet. FWIW, we have been Executive members for years because the cash back at end of year pays for our membership plus a few extra bucks.

Just maxed out my chase freedom and discover it 5 percent cashback categories. Bought Disney gift cards from shop rite. They had the $500 giftcard denomination so it was easy peasy to combine them all on the Disney gift card website. Using the gift cards to upgrade our free tickets (used UR) to APs at Disney world.

I remember you planning your GC trip. Seems like just yesterday and now it’s almost here! Hope you have a ball and it’s not too too hot. Vegas will be in the 100’s next week but the canyon rim tends to be a bit cooler. Hope you are ready for the “dry heat” in the SW.

I keep looking at the weather app and it says 100 at the Canyon, 70 in Flagstaff. Right now 87 GC, 69 Flagstaff, 93 Chicago. :sunny:
