I am planning a trip with a lot of my family and I am the one doing all the booking and planning. There will be a total of 5 rooms. Say free dining comes out next year for September, will I be able to apply that to all 5 rooms or just 3?

I don't think that there is a limit as to the number of rooms that you can book under one reservation as long as each room has at least one person over the age of 18 in it.

But I would recommend that you either use a travel agent to take care of all of the reservations or else let each family take care of their own. If you're all under one reservation, then you stand a chance of everyone losing their reservation if Auntie Sue and Uncle Bob can't come up with their share by the time it is due. And do you really want to be the person who hounds everyone to get their payments in on time (or foot the bill and wait for them to pay you back)?

It doesn't cost anything to use a TA and you will be able to turn all of the headaches over to her. Some will even take care of booking your dining reservations and when the new Fastpass system is unveiled, they will be able to take care of pre-booking those as well.

You know what, I am leaning more towards the TA because it does stress me out that someone may back out. It is all close family going but 3 of us are military and you never know who will be deployed or relocating and when. Have you ever used a TA? If so, do you have any recommendations? Thanks for the heads up :-)

We use AAA. Travel arrangements are covered in the membership. You get their discount (usually around $150 for a week booking - which well exceeds their membership price ), they make all the arrangements including ADR's and there a few other perks too like preferred viewing for wishes, etc. Deposit is usually $200 and you can pay in payments. Trip #5 is in November and never had a problem. Each office usually has a Disney specialist. If FD or other promotions come up, they will apply them for you. Other TA's may do the same, but this has worked well for us. Everyone gets their own paperwork too. Have a great time on your trip! :thumbsup2

Oh TwinMom that sounds great! Thanks for that info:cool1:
Our last trip it was just the four of us and it was only for 5 days so we booked through our TA on our military installation and used the Salute tickets. This trip is is 14 people for 10 days, much bigger than what I think I am capable of. :rotfl2:

I've booked large groups in multiple rooms and if everyone is on one reservation no matter how many rooms, everyone will have to be on the dining plan. You can't have some people on and some people not ( on the dining plan ). I have only used a TA one time and that was when DH decided at Thanksgiving to go that Christmas. The TA here ( DisneyUnlimited here from Dis ) was able to get us a room for Christmas week. I couldn't do it myself. GOod luck.

The 3 room maximum booking comes into play when you are using an email pin code or a mail pin code. You can only book up to 3 rooms when using a free dining pin code. If you are booking a general public free dining code then you can book as many rooms as you need.

If you are seriously thinking of going with a TA, you need to make sure they are very knowledgeable about Disney and free dining discounts. The TA will own your reservation and you won't be able to personally make any changes to those reservations.

Thanks so much for answering my question and all the great info guys! :) And this is why I love the DIS!:thumbsup2
