Hyperpigmentation, does anyone have any knowledge?

Hi, I have posted this on the CB, and asked to have it transferred where it rightly belongs, and I received a PM from a Mod (which I foolishly deleted) stating they were erasing the original, because it would move to either here or the Disability forum, and I have not located it...So, I continue..

I would love to know if anyone has any knowledge on skin hyperpigmentation. This is probably a long shot. I had my regular check up on Thursday, and my doctor mentioned I had another mole (nevus) on my ***** minora. I have had others near there, but not inside, and have had biopsies done, which thankfully turned out negative..

I have had so much going on that this is VERY hard to deal with now. My doctor is great, gave me a referral for a vulva specialist (dermatologist), she is the same one I have seen in the past. I tried calling Friday, but closed, so I will try again Monday. He mentioned it is very important, and he does not like the shape of it. Obviously I can not see it, but my DH did last night, and he is the calm one, and he looked panicky...

I am such an avid reader, and knowledge type of gal. Googling this is NOT good, and I have vowed to stop, in hopes perhpas someone has any type of knowledge of this..

Hope your weekend is going well.

I am confused a bit to what this is....I am sorry.. I have discoloration on my face from sun damage and I thought they called that hyperpigmentation.. like a darkening in certain areas, but it is sun damage..

I tried to do a bit of research but was still not sure what this is.. a prelim to skin cancer?? OK.. so I googled and know the area and now know why you are not googling it.

Ok.. here are my words of wisdom... try not to worry until you know exactly what you are dealing it.. do lots of deep breathing, call the specialist, get an appt and go from there.. one step at a time... I swear it is how I get through.. one step at a time..

Big hugs!!!!

Thank you so much for the reply. You are definitely right on there, one step at at time...
I actually received a PM from someone who is going through the same right now. At least it seems to be the direction I am going..

I hope you are enjoying spring:goodvibes I will update as soon as I can see the Dr. I am on a waiting list, as no opening until June:guilty:

I wanted to add that due to the "urgency" or so I am told, I have an appt May 14th, as the Dr. is away next week. That is SO much better than June or July.>Thanks everyone for reading this, I know I often ramble, it is the nerves.

Hugs to everyone:grouphug:

I have been dealing with Nevus of Ota all of my life, I have what appears to be a black eye, my lower and upper lids, forehead and my eye are all affected.

I use alot of concealer !!!!!!!

I recently went to the eye doctor with my youngest child and her doctor kept saying how I needed to make sure that I get an eye exam every year. I got concerned, my appointment is May 11th and I am a little worried, because of the doctors reaction. I haven't noticed any changes.

My eye doctor that I saw for the first 36 years of my life discribed it as mole. But mine doesn't look like that it really looks like someone punched me in the eye.

I agree with you, google is not good, it will scare you to death.

My medical doctor told me to look at websites like the mayo clinic website or johns hopkins.

There is laser surgery that can help in some cases but mine would be quite extensive and being around my eye is just plain scary. But it sure would be nice to give up that concealer and have a normal looking face.

Good luck with yours.

Just wanted to update this thread. I saw the specialist yesterday, and was diagnosed with Vulva Melanosis..

Right now it is the wait and see method, but it will be checked every 3 months, instead of 6...Basically it is to make sure nothing changes from what it is now..

The oncologist thought it would turn cancerous, but not yet. So, we wait and see..

Thanks everyone.:goodvibes
