Better than all the Atlantis pools in the Bahamas all put together! I know that is saying a lot, especially considering how nice the Atlantis Resort is, but after spending a long weekend at the Hyatt, and enjoying most of the amenties and especially spending time at the pool, I thought the Hyatt's pool atmosphere, overall was far more superior to the Atlantis, and my husband agreed.

From the design, (this pool pretty much wraps around into a circle), with its hidden caves for lounging, waterfalls, hidden hot-tubs,

comfy lounge chairs, and tropical foliage in and around the resort. I almost forgot at times, we were in Orlando. The man made beach was clean, with plenty of lounge chairs, nicely situated with great views of the lake and golf course, and easy access to the watersports. It felt very serene and calm. Of course it is no where near the size of the Atlantis, and although it was a busy weekend with plenty of families at the pool, it never really felt crowded.

From the moment we walked into the lobby to check in I knew we were in for a treat. http://inlinethumb44.webshots.com/36587/2708184970042762657S425x425Q85.jpg
This is a very large hotel/resort, but not so much that you would get lost. The staff was very welcoming. From the doorman, to the concierge, the gentleman who checked us in and the housekeeping staff.

We enjoyed a great breakfast each morning in Cascades and the hostess and waitstaff were top notch with service and seeing to our needs. The staff here are trained very well and it shows. The staff at On the Rocks Pool Bar could use a little more training, they almost act like they rather be elsewhere, but the young man who was working the pool deck was very nice and attentive.

We received an upgrade to a corner room with two balconies, and we had amazing views of the pool and lake. The rooms were very modern, clean and chic. The king bed was a dream come true. It was also nice having a small refrigerator to use without having to pay a daily fee for it.

The one thing that annoyed me (at no fault of the hotel), there are signs at the entrance to the pool deck that clearly says "No Coolers are Allowed" but people ignored the signs anyway and came in with coolers packed with food/beer, etc. Unbelievable. I really think the hotel should enforce their rules, otherwise it defeats the purpose of posting them in the first place. I understand that many people spend their entire day at the pool, but how rude and ignorant can you be to totally go against rules made by the hotel. If that is the case, then these are the people that should stay home, and camp out in your own backyard.

This a 1st class hotel resort all the way....I am so looking forward to our return. I read some reviews where people complained about the resort fees. What is there to complain about? Are you kidding? Okay if you don't get a chance to use any of the amenities, then maybe you should plan your stay accordingly. The fees are included whether you use them or not, to each his own.

We checked in around Noon, which gave us plenty of time to unpack, unwind, and have lunch. After lunch, we changed clothes and spent the afternoon at the pool, and on the lake with the waterbike, and that evening we enjoyed Downtown Disney.

We knew on our 2nd day, most of that would be spent at Universal, and it was...later that evening it was Downtown Disney for dinner and hanging out, but we planned to spend the 3rd day on the lake, playing pitch and puff golf, and at the pool.

For around $20 per day, and all that you get (watersports, pitch and putt golf, use of bicycles) thats plenty considering that many other resorts will charge you upwards of $25.00 or more just to ride a bike. We have no complaints about the fees.

We did not rent a car, and at times we wish we had at least for a day, however, we actually made out pretty well using the shuttle service to Universal, and taxi service to Downtown Disney and I-Drive for a show. Overall it was much less not renting, but on our return trip if we extend our stay we will probably rent a car for at least 2 days, it all depends.

We decided on this mini-weekend trip three weeks before we left, and it was the best decision we made. The weather was great, we had a good time in Downtown Disney in the evenings, http://inlinethumb09.webshots.com/46216/2654734530042762657S500x500Q85.jpg

and enjoyed the pools, watersports, and the resort amenities, and most importantly, we spent quality time together as a couple!

Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Hyatt Grand Cypress, and we are looking forward to our return in 2011...I think we found a new mini- weekend getaway :cool1:
