There's a lot of things that you need to consider as it varies greatly by person.
While on the Culinary Program or College Program, assuming you work 40 hours a week and stay in housing, expect to be earning about $210 a week after they take out taxes and your housing fee.
Think about what financial responsibilities you have.
Do you have car/insurance payments? Credit Card Debt? Student Loan Payments?
If you have none of the above, you'll definitley need at least $200-$300 to start out. For your first two weeks, your paychecks will be minimal as you will be going through training and orientation and not getting a full 40 hours. This will get you your food, and other supplies for your apartment.
Your best best is to budget your expenses and see how much you'll need.
