How much Christmas can we squeeze into 3 days? Nov/Dec 2015 TR *NEW TR Link 5/18!*

Not sure what autocorrect changed repercussions to in my post!!

Auto correct is always either my best friend or absolutely ridiculous! :rotfl:

Love the Christmas store in Didney Springs! Hoping once construction is done we will be brave enough to venture over there again- the traffic- ugh

Most of the walls that made it hard to navigate when we were there in October 2014 seemed to be down for this trip. I have heard that parking can still be crazy but hopefully it will be all worth it very soon!

Seems like a great night!

The Dino toys are pretty cute, even if unnecessary! Also what great pixie dust! Such a great way to end the first day! Must have made the boys day, I mean that and being in Disney on surprise trip!!

We did have a really fun first night! And the boys still sleep with those dinosaurs every night so it wasn't a total waste! And yes - great surprise treat at the bus stop! I think they were still in shock since just that morning the big surprise had been revealed!

We have eaten at TREX twice and really enjoyed the food both times. I do have to agree the meteor showers are a little too frequent!! TREX is operated by the same company that owns Rainforest Cafe (not sure if you have been. We have two in Chicago, so we go there pretty often), which has a big thunderstorm while you eat, but they don't seem to happen as frequently!!

It's definitely awesome how they have all the giant dinosaurs tucked in here and there and I love that octopus over the top!!!

We've been to Rainforest Cafe a few times in other places but, like you said, the storms tend to not happen quite so often. Nate has requested to eat at the "one with the volcano" (aka Rainforest in Disney Springs) next trip. Not happening in May but maybe the next one after that!

And I loved the theme and decor - a huge hit with the boys! The ocean room was my favorite.

Damn that Disney customer service!!!!! I would have loved for you to get an "I told you so!" moment out of having to add on to your party last minute. Grrrr.

It would have been a nice "teaching moment" for the in laws but it just never came around!

When my Mom and I were there in November, the toy soldiers on stilts were there, too, but there were too many people waiting ahead of us, so we didn't stop for a pic. I just noticed looking at yours though that I had my pic taken with the soldier on the right, also on stilts (in a different costume!) on my Honeymoon TEN years ago!!! I checked my album just to be sure :) He must love his job if he's still there!

It was such a fun surprise! Where else can you find toy soldiers on stilts wandering around?? And that's so cool that it's the same guy from your honeymoon trip!

How exciting to be pixie dusted at the bus stop!!! :) I just love little moments like that.

It was such a special moment - I love Disney CMs!

So cute that the boys all did build a dino- seems like such a cute experience!

It was really fun and they still sleep with them every night, so it wasn't a total waste!

Love the pictures around Disney Springs..so cool that you spotted those toy soldiers!

Seriously, where else would you find random toy soldiers on stilts walking around? Only at Disney!

What an awesome CM to give the boys pirate gear!

It was a very fun moment - it made a great night even more special!

Ending the night with a Mickey Bar sounds perfect to me!! Love that final nighttime shot of Pop.

It wouldn't be the last time I had a secret Mickey Bar! And we loved Pop!

Can't wait to hear about the first park day!!

Hopefully coming soon!

Not sure if you detest stuffed animals as much as me, but I can't stand them. In our house Casey wants to play for them like a day and then that is it. I'd much rather she get something that has some longevity to it (says the mother whose kid has brought a stuffed animal home on every disney trip) :-)

We have a crazy amount of stuffed animals. And I swear that each boys has at least 10 in their bed. And funny enough, not a single one can be removed or they absolutely can't sleep! :confused3

This is awesome. I had no idea this even existed. My daughter would love it.

It was a great spot for them to play for a bit! And I think it's not very well known - I only knew since I read it on another TR here!

The carriage is beautiful. You were a very brave soul to give DTD a whirl on a Saturday night. I barely brave it during the week : )

It didn't feel too crazy until we reached that point between World of Disney and the Lego Store. And it felt like everyone was stopped in the walkways in groups. Which I just haaaate with a passion!

Oh no, say it isn't so!!!!

Right? And spoiler alert - it doesn't stop with ADRs. They tag along to one of the parks too!

This is awesome. What pixie dust indeed. Guess not getting on the bus isn't the worst thing ever.

It was such a fun moment - the perfect way to end the first night of our surprise trip!

Great way to end the night.

Hmm...not the last time I sneak away for a secret Mickey bar either! :thumbsup2

I stumbled upon your last TR and really enjoyed following along. December is my favorite time to visit so of course I'm enjoying this one too! Your boys are adorable. Looking forward to your first park day!

Thanks for following along! :earsboy:

I loved everything about the Christmas season at Disney - so much magic!

I think making the dinos just completed the whole TRex experience for us!

Right?? And then they asked me if I could go ahead and maybe add them to a few ADRs for our May trip? No idea which dates...but they "might like to join us" for a few meals. :sad2:

What a great moment! pixiedust:

Disney magic and great CMs! :thumbsup2 :earsboy:

Awww, that's excellent - there's many a grown up that would love to have pirate pixie dust!

It was a really fun moment for all of us! The boys were very excited and it was a great way to end the first day of our surprise trip!

Loved the build a dinosaurs. So cute! Although, we are overrun with Build a bears. I am forever thankful they went out of business in our city. I loved that they got some extra magic with the pirate gear. They are so cute.

Mickey bar at the end of the night? Great idea. Why do I not think of these things?

The stuffed animal situation at our house is out of control. And apparently, all of them are just vital to our existence so I can't even suggest getting rid of one!

And the pirate gear was a great - I love Disney CMs!

And a Mickey bar is always the best way to end a Disney day! :mickeybar

We did T-Rex twice on our recent trip, I am pretty sure they tend to seat the large groups in the ice cave, they have those huge tables set up for parties of 10 to 15 there (I know since we were sat there with our group of 13). I was kind of shocked by the number of people without ADRs too, though to be fair we didn't have one either, what we did have was better the Landry's card. Best thing ever, it was totally worth getting, I loved the firstish in line benefit of it.

I think you're right about large parties in the Ice Cave. I saw a few long tables in the ocean/bar area right by the entrance but the rest of the tables were small. And I kept meaning to apply for the Landry's card before our trip! Next time we plan on TRex I will get one!

My kids and their cousins also talked my Mom into getting them all dinosaurs at build a dino, so we now have 3 dinos at our house, they had to carry them through the airport too, since there was no suitcase room.

We had to carry the dinos too - those things are huge!! The boys still sleep with them so it wasn't too much of a waste after all!

Awesome pirate pixie dust!

It was a great Disney moment!

Oh and yum Mickey Bar!

The perfect way to end a Disney day!

How fun, I didn't know they did that.

Me either! Only in Disney, right??

Aww poor guy

It must be rough being the littlest one!

It's still cute :thumbsup2

I'll take what pictures I can get!

That is so awesome, :cheer2: yay for extra pixie dust on your first day.

It was the perfect way to end the first day of our surprise trip!

wow, I totally missed that this started - so obviously way behind, but my attempt to catch up and comment where appropriate (ok, I tend not to require appropriateness)

I need to get better at advertising this stuff! And we'll forgive the lack of appropriateness because you've led me to some yummy food and drink opportunities on your TRs!

Sounds like a smart move to having that pre-trip night in the hotel ... and what a fun idea to do a Chick-Fil-A picnic!

A picnic on the floor is always exciting around here!

That reveal video is great! Well, other than the part where Nate punched his own eye out at least. That is kinda funny how you had to spell it out for them.

I thought I had made it pretty clear in the letter but I think they were in such a state of disbelief! And the eye thing is funny now but I was a little worried in the beginning!

That's great that your parents were able to meet you at the airport like that so you could all go on ME together. Did you tell the boys beforehand that their grandparents were coming too or was that a surprise when they showed up?

It was a total surprise that my parents were meeting us there! And we were all like "Wow! You're going to Disney World? Us too!"

I love how in your picture of the entrance arch the woman in front of you is also leaning out to get a picture

I love the buzz of excitement on the ME when we're getting close to the entrance!

hey $50 off each room is still $100 total (if my math is accurate) so that's not to shabby at all!

By my Disney math, that's just about a QS meal and Dole Whips for our family of 5!

Your relatives sound very similar to my wife's family. Everything is very casual so they don't think of things and meanwhile I am like "can you at least let me know how many people are coming and for how many days? I need to know how much food to buy, for example?"

Yes! It's so frustrating! Planning for the holidays is torture. I literally find out a week before which relative (and thus which state) we'll be visiting for Thanksgiving. Which makes planning things like a road trip and hotel room very problematic! Are we driving 3 hours or 10 hours? Staying one night or five? These details bother no one but me!

Sounds like a great system with the Santa meet and nice that you felt you got a good amount of time with him

The pager system for Santa was perfect - like Dumbo but with shopping!

Oh good, the hostess didn't "think" it would be an issue ... I mean, you've been planning this vacation for over 6 months, but she doesn't "think" it will be a problem, so that should fully put you at east

The people I spoke on the phone with at TRex were not the most together people. I made a reservation at 6 months and when I called to confirm a month before, they had no record of the reservation. Luckily making one again for the same time was no issue. I get the feeling that the seating policy is very loose and free.

seriously! That will only encourage them in the future! You should have asked the hostess to at least make a big show about it and that she would figure out a way to make it work *this* time, etc.

I have a feeling that no amount of "I told you so!" moments will make a difference. We stood in line for 45 minutes at Sea World last June (in the Florida summer sun) to buy tickets because getting them online before was "too much trouble".

Glad you enjoyed the meal though. My kids have been pretty intimidated by the animatronic dinosaurs so we haven't eaten there yet (and to be honest other places appeal to me more so I don't push it). We have let them play in the dig site outside - love that "not-really-sand" stuff they use!

It was a fun experience but I think you can get the same atmosphere just walking through the entrance with that big TRex as you can eating a meal during a meteor shower! And I love those dig areas! Fun but no mess.

Wow, what great pixie dust - the boys must have been thrilled! All in all a pretty good first day despite a little family drama :thumbsup2

What would a vacation be without a little family drama? But it was a great first day and the pirate gear was a very special moment!

Good times after dinner!

The stuffed Dinos look so fun! And I feel you on having too many; our one DD is only one years old and has too many, I can't imagine your home with three boys who are bigger!

Wait, wait, wait, they pop into another ADR?! Oye vey.

What fun pixie dust! It's those little ones that are so awesome. Don't get me wrong, everyone loves a room upgrade, but pirate gear when waiting for a bus is too cool!

Nice way to end a night and start a Wdw vacation; a Classic Mickey bar.

Because we need more stuffed animals in this house.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Oh I feel ya! DH and I have been working so hard to purge un needed crap and not bring it in to our nice new house and then my Brother just HAD to bring one of those way oversized obnoxious bears (You know, the ones that are 6 feet tall?) for Little Miss for Christmas. :scared1::crazy2: We're still trying to figure out how to make that sucker "disappear" Thankfully she didn't really care for it from the get go and we put him in the basement till we can find a way to get rid of him! :rotfl2:

We said goodbye to our extra guests at this point since they needed to cross the bridge over to the West Side where they had parked. But don't worry, you'll see them again before our trip is over as unplanned guests at yet another ADR!
:scared1: REALLY?!?!? The preventing yourself from strangling the relatives on a Disney Trip clearly belongs to you! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Full on pirate gear for each boy - bandana, eye patch, and sword. The boys were so excited! We thanked Fernando as the boys had a great time playing while we waited for another Pop bus to arrive. Amazing pixie dust moment!
AWA what nice pixie dust! pixiedust:

I am so far behind, omg omg omg! :scared:

But in all honesty, I was hoping there would be a little hassle to show Jim and his family how changing plans a the last minute can make things difficult. I feel like the lack of repercussions justifies their lack of planning.
Between you, me, and the DIS... I would have hoped for the same thing. I'm all about some "teachable moments." :rotfl:

Our host led us to a table in the ice cave. Now this was the one room that I really didn't want to be seated in.
Strangely, I was kinda hoping for the ice cave! But I'm a huge sucker for pretty lights and colors...

At which point Nate would dramatically throw down his crayons and shout "Not another meteor shower!" I feel ya, buddy.
Oh man! I was feeling the same way! Like, I didn't mind it so much... at first. I just felt like they go on WAY too long. I think each one went on for a full minute, where as 30 seconds would have been PLENTY! :crazy2:

it was COLD (ice cave, remember) and the lights were regularly changing colors. Red to blue to purple and back again. It made reading the menu or even really seeing your food difficult.
Ohhhh, that's right, I did read that the lighting in there can make food pics difficult, too. Not that you took any. :rotfl: But it's something I'll have to keep in mind if I ever DO get sat in there!

Disney Springs felt much more crowded at this point than it had before dinner. I attributed that to Saturday night crowds. But we had a nice time strolling and taking in the sights!
Girl, I went on a MONDAY night the week after you were there, and it was slammin' busy! :scared:

But don't worry, you'll see them again before our trip is over as unplanned guests at yet another ADR!
Oh no... :sad2:

Ha! Those guys weren't out when I was there. How fun! :goodvibes

Amazing pixie dust moment!
I love this story! I love great CMs! YAY! :hyper:

Apparently, Nate went into full pirate mode!

His face, though! :rotfl2:

And even though I was exhausted, I was too excited to sleep!

So I decided to go down to the food court for a treat!

Because grown-up decisions. :thumbsup2

This sounds like the PERFECT way to end a Disney day! I love it!

Good times after dinner!

The stuffed Dinos look so fun! And I feel you on having too many; our one DD is only one years old and has too many, I can't imagine your home with three boys who are bigger!

We did have lots of fun exploring TRex and the rest of Disney Springs! But yes, the stuffed animal situation is wild here!

Wait, wait, wait, they pop into another ADR?! Oye vey.

Oh, yes...this would not be the end of the surprise guests!

What fun pixie dust! It's those little ones that are so awesome. Don't get me wrong, everyone loves a room upgrade, but pirate gear when waiting for a bus is too cool!

It was a really special little moment! The boys had a blast playing with everything in our rooms for the rest of the trip.

Nice way to end a night and start a Wdw vacation; a Classic Mickey bar.

I don't think there's anything better than a Mickey Bar by the pool!

:rotfl2:

Oh, no! Of course it has to be massive. The boys go crazy when we try to get rid of anything so I feel like I have to smuggle old toys out!

:scared1: REALLY?!?!? The preventing yourself from strangling the relatives on a Disney Trip clearly belongs to you! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

I guess I'll accept that award reluctantly! I'm just hoping that it doesn't happen again during our May trip but I have a feeling I'll be adjusting ADRs once again...
AWA what nice pixie dust! pixiedust:

It was a really fun Disney moment!

I am so far behind, omg omg omg! :scared:

You're lucky I even let you read this TR anymore, really.

Between you, me, and the DIS... I would have hoped for the same thing. I'm all about some "teachable moments." :rotfl:

I so wanted a moment just to say "I told you so!" but, alas, it never came!

Strangely, I was kinda hoping for the ice cave! But I'm a huge sucker for pretty lights and colors...

You would have LOVED this Ice Cave! It was all about the lights!

Oh man! I was feeling the same way! Like, I didn't mind it so much... at first. I just felt like they go on WAY too long. I think each one went on for a full minute, where as 30 seconds would have been PLENTY! :crazy2:

The first one was cool...and it was all downhill after that. I kept thinking what it must be like for those servers that are subjected to that ALL NIGHT LONG!

Ohhhh, that's right, I did read that the lighting in there can make food pics difficult, too. Not that you took any. :rotfl: But it's something I'll have to keep in mind if I ever DO get sat in there!

It made even seeing your food clearly difficult! And I'm hoping to have time for food pictures in October since I plan on eating all the things!!

Girl, I went on a MONDAY night the week after you were there, and it was slammin' busy! :scared:

I think your week was waaaayyy busier than the time we were there! But on a Monday night? Crazy!

Oh yes indeed!

Ha! Those guys weren't out when I was there. How fun! :goodvibes

It was such an "only in Disney" moment!

I love this story! I love great CMs! YAY! :hyper:

I love the little moments that make each trip magic! The boys had a great time playing with that stuff for the rest of the trip.
His face, though! :rotfl2:

Nate doesn't play around when it comes to pirates.

Because grown-up decisions. :thumbsup2

At least it was kind of healthy. Ice cream is basically milk which is a dairy product. See, healthy.

This sounds like the PERFECT way to end a Disney day! I love it!

I felt so much more relaxed on this trip overall and tried to take time to just enjoy it more than rushing around. Nights like this helped!

"Hold on, I'm stretching my shooting muscles!"

Our first park day! :goodvibes On to Hollywood Studios!

Now I think that we have all gathered that I am in no way a relaxed person. My family all knows this too and so they know that I mean business when I say that we will be at the bus stop no later than 8:00. So I was a very happy girl when we were all up, dressed, and fed by 7:45! :sunny: Mornings really are my happy time, especially Disney mornings!

Colin was ready to go!

We were actually the first ones in line at the Hollywood Studios stop! Jim is not a morning person and was not such a happy camper at this point.

But Jake is a morning person, so smiles from him at the bus stop!

The line filled in quickly behind us and a bus pulled up after a short wait. Luckily, we got seats and took the quick ride over to Hollywood Studios. The tree was looking lovely as we walked in.

I loved that even the plantings were changed over to poinsettias!

We passed through bag check and had a short wait before the opened up the turnstiles.

I loved the Christmas touches throughout the park!

And then our first view without the hat! It looked empty but completely right at the same time, if you know what I mean? :( :thumbsup2 :confused3

We followed the crowd back to Pixar Place and got in line for our first ride on Toy Story Midway Mania. We had a FP+ for this later in the day but I wanted to squeeze in two rides. I know that we will most likely try for Jedi Training Academy in May so we won't be able to hit TSMM at Rope Drop. Jedi Training Academy was closed for refurb during our trip so I know the boys will be excited to try it in May! :darth:

TSMM wasn't operating when we got in line but people started streaming in soon! :hyper:

We only rode this once with a FP+ on our first trip so I was excited to take a little more time to check out the queue!

And that's when I look over at Nate and find this.

Of course I asked, "What are you doing?" And he replied, "Hold on, I'm stretching my shooting muscles!"

Right, bud. :thumbsup2

Colin was excited too!

Nate rode with my mom. I think he knows an easy match when he sees one! :rotfl2:

I think we waited about 15 minutes which was not bad at all considering what wait times are later in the day!

I rode with Colin this round. Selfie.

And score.

I was a little ashamed that our scores were so close, especially since he's only 3. I need to step up my game!

We were all done by 9:30. My plan was to head right across to meet Buzz and Woody. But a certain Mouse had a different plan! :smickey:

Next up - Mickey...and Buzz and Woody too!

Mickey...and Buzz and Woody too!

After our spin on Toy Story Midway Mania, the plan had been to meet Buzz and Woody. But as we were gathering up the stroller I noticed a CM standing next to a sign saying Sorcerer Mickey was meeting in the alley right behind TSMM. I asked her if the wait was long and she said it was empty! We hustled over and met our first Mickey of the trip with no wait!

Of course, the boys were excited!

These are my pictures of the boys walking up.

Jake kept calling the brooms in the background "bananas". Mickey and I agreed that he was right, they do kind of look like bananas!

And this was the best of the PhotoPass shots.

Bye, Mickey! Hugs!

The meet was a quick surprise! The Times Guide had it listed that Mickey would begin meeting at 10:00 but the CM I talked to said that was completely wrong - the meet opened as soon as the park did. So I guess the Times Guide isn't always 100% correct?

At this point, we did head straight over to meet Buzz and Woody. The line was a little long at this point but the boys are huge Toy Story fans so this meet was a must for us. Luckily, we had a few really nice ladies in line behind us who helped pass the time. They loved talking to the boys and let the boys inspect the pins on their lanyards.

And of course, we passed the time taking pictures at all the great photo ops in the queue!

I guess the Mickey on his band was his laser blaster?

Ready to blast off!

Silly faces help to pass the time too!

The ladies behind us offered to take a family photo too!

Finally, it was our turn! I didn't take any pictures so these are all PhotoPass captures.

Buzz and Woody loved that Nate and Colin had their own Buzz and Woody ears on!

Seriously, could they be having any more fun??

As soon as we got out of the meet, we saw one of the Green Army Men meeting! Nate was ready to enlist.

After meeting Buzz and Woody and seeing one of the Green Army Men, it was time for a little split. I needed to head up to Guest Services to upgrade to an AP. And maybe for a little Mommy alone time?

Next up - One Man's Dream

I like the way you think! :thumbsup2

Coming back to comment more later but wanted to leave you with this tip before I forget.

I guess I'll accept that award reluctantly! I'm just hoping that it doesn't happen again during our May trip but I have a feeling I'll be adjusting ADRs once again...
Do yourself a favor now. In preparation for our March trip (When I will have relatives also traveling to Orlando ) I discovered a bit of a gem of advice, The 10 a person cancellation fee only counts if no one on the ADR shows up. It does not however kick into effect if you say make an adr for 10 and only 7 show. All of this to say, Do yourself a favor now. Make all of your adrs for the highest number of people that could join you. If/when they decide to spring a "Hey can we join" you can respond with a Sure! instead of a stressed out fight. If they don't join you just let them know when you check in that a few didn't show.

Yay for first! good job!

:rotfl2: Not bad for a 3 year old!!! Pretty impressive actually!

We totally used this fact on our trip. In fact they also don't charge you if you make 2 reservations and less then the number of people for the first reservation show and none for the second. There was one day when we had a reservation for 11 and a reservation for 5 and we only had 5 show. We had another day with a reservation for 11 and a reservation for 2 and only 6 showed. As long as someone shows they will count it. They will also be happy to seat you together if you have 2 reservations at the same general time (we had a couple up to 15 minutes apart and it was no issue).

Glad you were able to leave the hotel the time you wanted to!

Love all the early morning and TSMM pics!

Nice getting to meet Mickey with no wait! And great pics with Buzz & Woody!

Love how excited the boys were for TSMM, "stretching out their shooting arms"!

Adorable Buzz and Woody shots! I always find at Disney that people are so friendly and chatty in the lines. I love it when you meet people like that.

GOOD on them! (Mine were never late, but they were never early either. )

And then our first view without the hat! It looked empty but completely right at the same time, if you know what I mean? :( :thumbsup2 :confused3
So by that you mean 10,000 more awesomer, right? (I was never a hat fan...)

Of course I asked, "What are you doing?" And he replied, "Hold on, I'm stretching my shooting muscles!"

Right, bud. :thumbsup2
BAHAHA! That kid!

CUTE! And look at your super-cute customized Minnie ears!

I was a little ashamed that our scores were so close, especially since he's only 3. I need to step up my game!
Bahaha! SHAMEFUL! :P

I noticed a CM standing next to a sign saying Sorcerer Mickey was meeting in the alley right behind TSMM. I asked her if the wait was long and she said it was empty! We hustled over and met our first Mickey of the trip with no wait!
SAY WHAAAAAAAAT!

Bye, Mickey! Hugs!
Such great photos!!

This is a really cool photo, that was super sweet of her to offer!

And maybe for a little Mommy alone time?
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Loving your TR so far Jamie. Glad to hear the dinner went well with your in-laws, but I can't wait to see how the next one goes.. ;)

I laughed wayyyyy too hard at this, haha!!!

I feel like T-Rex sometimes gets negative reviews because it's a pretty kid-themed restaurant not really known for its food. I've read quite a few reports with positive things to say about T-Rex! Not sure that we'll get there all that soon but it's definitely a place worth checking out in the future.

I love this stage area now! It was definitely crowded that night, holy moly.

Full on pirate gear for each boy - bandana, eye patch, and sword. The boys were so excited! We thanked Fernando as the boys had a great time playing while we waited for another Pop bus to arrive. Amazing pixie dust moment!

OMG, that is awesome!!!! How cute. What a nice surprise!!

Nate rode with my mom. I think he knows an easy match when he sees one! :rotfl2:

Ahahahahaha... grandma didn't stand a chance!!

I think we waited about 15 minutes which was not bad at all considering what wait times are later in the day!

That is awesome!! I think we've managed to rope drop to TSMM ONE time.. but that's probably my favorite "rope drop" ride to do.. 15 minutes is not bad at all, and the queue is actually fun so it flies by.
