have you had in your life ?

3, the first was the won when I was growing up, his name was Dr Shwartz or somehting like that, then didnt have another to my late 20s, and she was murdered (it was big story here, really sad) then I didnt get anotheR until my 40,s and still with her (she is great) she is the one who caught my cancer, made sure she sent me to right places and call me ad the other doctors all the time to make sure I wasnt going to be just another number, when ever I think of her I want to cheer

2..I had my pediatrician until I was 18 and then I switched to a regular walk in clinic but I was never a patient. I've just done walk ins or the ER (depending on severity) until I found my doctor that I have now two years ago.

I also have two eye doctors (different issues), a neurologist, a gyn, and a nurse that I see for appointments. I'm usually at a drs appointment lately, it seems.

I dont count all the specialist, just the family Doctors, cause they seem (or at least should) the ones that know your body and tell you when you should see someone else

Couldn't tell you. I was a military brat. So I was seen by lots of doctors during my growing up years. Since I've been an adult - probably about 4 or 5 (HMO) But my current doctor I've been seeing for about 15 years now for regular visits. If I have an urgent care issue, I may or may not see "my" doctor.

I'm going to say 4 as an adult. It is NOT a slam-dunk to find a family doctor in this market; there is a shortage of GP's and you can go years without one. Relying on walk-in clinics and Google for primary health care sucks. :(

The guy I have now is pretty good - I like him enough to follow advice I'd rather blow off just to keep him from "firing" me. This is not uncommon in Calgary, nor is it uncommon for a doctor to retire or close his practise without making any referrals, leaving patients in the lurch. My current Dr. "interviewed" for patients - sort of like a meet-and-greet in reverse - he was trying to determine if he liked you or if he was wiling to deal with any chronic, high-need issues you might have.

3 that I know of. But we moved around a lot when I was little, so I don't even know if I went to a doctor during the first 4 years. I was with Doctor number 2 for 30 years though.

Our family had the same family doctor who delivered both of my maternal grandmother's babies then all 8 of my mom's. On my last visit to him before my family moved halfway across the country when I was 19 he said he'd been looking forward to delivering a 3rd generation! He used to have our childhood pictures hung on his office wall. It was just him in the office, no nurse, receptionist, etc. No appointments either, you just went to the waiting room and waited your turn. He cried 2 years later when my grandmother called him about my ovarian cancer diagnosis. Since I've been here (39 years)I've had about 5. I had one I liked who moved out of state and I really like the one I have now

7, 3 during my childhood and 4 during adulthood. I also have numerous specialists for my chronic issues, 4 I think.

Good question. I'm not entirely sure. I moved a good amount in my youth, not only from town to town, state to state, but also within towns. Then later I developed a stomach condition which had me going from doctor to doctor there for awhile.

Overall I'd also say, where I have lived the medical system isn't one set up where one would get to know their doctor. It's been more of a factory system. You basically have 5 to 10 minutes to lodge your complaints and wishes. Talk quick because any longer than that and you are being shown the door.

A little bit different but I got to know several doctors that were parents of friends when younger. That could always be a little interesting and even sensational with conversations.

I've only had 2 PCPs. The first was my pediatrician and I was under her care until I turned 18. I then switched to another physician and have been seeing her for the last 14 years. I think I'll be looking for a new one soon though because my current doctor is moving her office to a location that's over an hour away. I also have an eye doctor and gynecologist.

I didn't have any kind of a dedicated Pediatrician. My father is a doctor (not a pediatrician) and so I saw whoever he wanted me to see for whatever the issue was.

1 pediatrician and then 8......some left the practice, sometimes we moved and this time they aren't taking our insurance (looking for a new one now)

I gave up having long term doctor relationships. I go where the health plan sends me.

I don't remember ever going to a doctor as a kid. Have had four doctors as an adult. We loved the second one who we had for over 30 years. When we were sick we would just go to his office and he'd see us. We like our current doctor, but we're not crazy about his office policies. Visits are 10 minutes. You can discuss one major problem or two minor ones. It takes a month to get an appointment. He doesn't take or return phone calls. Luckily we have Quick Care clinics where we can see a Nurse Practitioner and you can get in right away, with long office hours.
