How long to cancel with full refund?

    If I book through Disney directly, how long do I have to cancel my reservation to get a full refund? Also, if the already billed the first night then would I get that night refunded right away to my credit card?

    If you reserved a room only,then you can cancel up to five days before your check-in date. If you booked a package, it must be cancelled or paid in full by 45 days before check-in. If you pay it, then cancel within that 45 day timeframe, you pay a cancellation penalty. Hopefully others can say what it is - I've never done a package.

    Once your cancellation is processed, you usually have your money within a week or so. Disney says it could take two billing cycles.. I cancelled a room only reservation recently and had my money that same week.

    Sounds like you did a room only reservation which you can cancel up to 5 days prior to checking in with no penalty. If you did do a package then you had the $200 deposit and you have to cancel within 45 days or after that you will lose your $200 deposit.

    If you did get vacation insurance that is not refundable so you will lose that no matter when you cancel your trip.

    Usually it just takes a few days to go back into your account once you cancel, but most companies will say that it can take up to 30 - 45 days but that is not really the case but a worst case.
