How long does a RO refund take?

I just cancelled a reservation for next May so that I can use that money towards our trip in a few weeks. I paid with a gift card and put the rest on a Visa. When can I expect that the refund will go through? I was hoping to use the gift card towards our RO in a few weeks.

Disney processes the refund right away, but the time frame for you to see a credit depends on your bank/cc company. With that said, I've seen refunds within 2-3 days of cancelling.
 

Usually it takes about 5 days but this depends if they put it through. I had this problem back in May. I changed resort ending in a credit. And I also canceled a trip room only. I waited over a month and nothing. I called back and was told it will show. I said it takes a month for you to credit it back ? It turn out they never put it in to give me a credit back. She was very sorry that this happen and said she wish she could do something but there was nothing they could do. I did tell her to tell who ever in charge to credit back as soon as they can. If you don't see it within 10 days call back. Especially if you used a Disney Visa. I used that and I can check the statement online so I know when I get a credit.
 
As others have reported, I had to cancel a room only reservation earlier this year and it appeared on my online credit card account in 5 days or less.
 
Did you all get confirmation of the cancellation? It disappeared from MDE, but no email. I thought that was weird as I get an email when I cancel dining, but not a 7 night reservation?

I never got a cancellation email when I cancelled my packages or RO. My refunds took anywhere from 3-5 days.

Same here as OP never got a confirmation of the cancellation as they said they would send. When called the CM said they don't send one but to refer back to reservation # for any problems. She said she didn't know why other CM tell people they will get an email. If gone from your MDE you know it was cancelled.
 
It has always taken about 3 days for me to receive a refund. I never get a cancel notice. You just use the reservation # as the "cancellation" # if you call with questions.
 
I canceled a room-only reservation and it took over a week to see the refund on my credit card.
 
Yep. Took us about a week to get our refund when we switched from RO to renting DVC.
 
I received a refund this morning on the gift card I paid with. No action on the credit card, but refunds always take a few days to process. Just an FYI to anyone who paid for an RO with a gift card. It doesn't take long to get the credit back.
